Good start for the Gophs
Nice looking opening drive, concluding with a Weber TD pass to Eric Decker.
7-0, Gophers, about five minutes in.

We're comin!
We’re comin! Although the Illini helped out with a facemask and kick out-of-bounds.
Decker now has 14 plays of 20 yds or more.

we overcame a 1st and 20 after a sketchy call as well. That was a huge start!

And MISS !!!
45 yarder no good. Gophers take over!

I’m behind because I have a beer in one hand…that was a big first down. Momentum stays with us.
by HutchLeaderGuy on Oct 11, 2008 11:29 AM CDT reply actions
After sack and false start, gophers faced a 3rd and 22…. run to protect the ball.. and punt
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 11:32 AM CDT reply actions
Negative plays
Two sacks and a couple of negative plays…have to cut those out.
Still, Weber is 8-for-8.

Injury
To me, Deon may have just gotten his wind knocked out of him.

Dunk
I want to see someone score a TD then Dunk all over that B-Ball court behind the endzone
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 11:45 AM CDT reply actions
We’re bringing only 3 or 4 at times w/ Juice’s speed. I think that plays a little into it. When they brought a blitz – Lee Campbell got a sack.
Big drive…kill some clock and get at least a FG attempt.

Sacks
O line – 2 sacks given up
E-Ridge – 1 sack given up
In my mind, too much running. Haven’t gone to Decker the last two drives.

Colado just missed another tackle...
lead to a late hit personal foul
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 11:54 AM CDT reply actions
Sherels is in uniform, but have not seen him. Collado is horrible. Nice hit, but yes, illegal
by HutchLeaderGuy on Oct 11, 2008 11:56 AM CDT reply actions
Tackling
I’ve seen Steve Davis miss a bunch, but, this group at times is a step slow and only uses their arms. Can’t do that in a big game.

What did you think
about that Oklahoma score.. almost a handoff or forward pass
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 12:06 PM CDT reply actions
I think it was fine, just a bobble I think. (I can see that game, as opposed to this one.)

what you say here can, and will, be used against you
Like I said, too much running. Three straight runs out of the shotgun…come on!
Three straight drives w/o a throw to Decker.
YES!!!!

Isn’t it a penalty to run with the ball after you call a fair catch?
by HutchLeaderGuy on Oct 11, 2008 12:14 PM CDT reply actions
BULL
he lowered his head with the intent to run
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 12:14 PM CDT reply actions
At least...
…the refs were consistent…I’ll give them that…because the first one wasn’t a fair catch signal either.
7-3 at half
Not bad. They receive the ball.
Good
Passing 7-for-9
Some pressure – three sacks
Special Teams
Bad
O-line – 3 sacks

I thought the first one was a fair catch signal
the gophers let up as a result of his hand motion.
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 12:17 PM CDT reply actions
Signal
By his intent to run, he’s not trying to call for a fair catch. But, it is a point of empasis this season to clearly signal. shouldn’t the play have been ruled dead right away? Why didn’t they blow it dead?
by HutchLeaderGuy on Oct 11, 2008 12:18 PM CDT reply actions
nice work guys
so I can’t watch the game, all I have is a box score. How have the Gophers looked? What has been their defensive strategy?
what you say here can, and will, be used against you
Opening drive looked great
After that, I think Brad Childress took over the play calling duties, because it’s looked awfully conservative.

The Defense
Looks like a Hooker, They are getting used by Juice Williams, then some how they step it up when the ball in in there own zone.
thanks Gonzo
that was descriptive enough, I now can picture exactly what happened after that drive. The Kick Ass Offense is clearly in a league of it’s own.
what you say here can, and will, be used against you
Lots of 4-4, or even 3-5 on defense. We’re bringing the heat a bit – 3 sacks.
Offense has been way too much run. I understand we’re trying to control the clock (keep Juice off the field), but three straight drives with no throws to DEcker is not good. He had six catches in the opening two drives.
by HutchLeaderGuy on Oct 11, 2008 12:37 PM CDT reply actions
The last drive was three straight runs out of the shotgun…we need to get a bit more imaginative then that.
Benn has been their best threat thus far.

Were you at the hockey game last night? it was great night for hockey
by goldybobblehead on Oct 11, 2008 12:56 PM CDT reply actions
I was not Sir unfortunatly...
I was at the Homecoming Football game for my Almamater High School last night. and up here visiting family in Hibbing, i caught the recaps and all that, sounded like a good game, surprised the gophers didnt score a few more goals, the funniest score i heard of the night was the UMD Bulldogs skating to a 2-2 Tie with Lake Superior State.
PJS or GN
Didn’t they predict an over/under of 70 and they went over?

Alford hurt again
Another o-line down…Alford hurt again.
1st down: run
2nd down: run
Come on Dunbar! The last time we threw was with 7:00 minute left in the second quarter.
Pass
Last 2 passes – two frst downs.
Before that play, 19 of last 25 were runs.
Tony O – last two were Kuzina and then Simmons
I wish these announcers
would actually talk about the game…i think Simmons was injured and there wasn’t a word about it…i’m really starting to hate ESPN
Sweet.
I am in class so i can’t watch the game…. wait… I love ESPN…. and more specifically ESPN 360.. streaming game live

Okie TD
Okie 28, Texas 20
Bradford 4 tds
i'm shocked
that the gophers are even on espn, im surprised that oklahoma-texas isnt airing on ESPN, ABC and ESPN 2, ESPN seems to be infatuated with that game.
Other games
I feel like I know more about the other games than the one we are supposed to be watching
Thinking ahead...
If Roof continues being successful, do you think he gets another offer to be a head coach—or gets a coordinator job at a bigger program after this year?
Too much time, too much space
How is that guy so wide open?
Big plays
Had them 3rd and 14 at 16…big plays lead to first and goal.
Hightower still covering Benn on drag routs
Benn 10-152
Huge third down coming
We need to at least get a few first downs to make sure we aren’t giving the ball right back to them with good field position
No confidence in Weber
It;s like their scared that Weber will make a huge mistake. They seem like they won’t throw much until its 14-14.
Illi starts at our 45
Can you say 14-12 with 2-pot conversion pending?
We need a turnover
I don't like where this is headed
Our offense can’t do anything, and it is just a matter of time before Illinois scores a TD
Monroe miss
big ep miss 20-6…no 2-pt conversion needed…Renacto was right before…his last one was close.
Texas 29, Okie 27
Renacto...my typing has gotten worse each beer
Oops….sorry on the score.
No ranked talk yet
Come on guys, let’s focus on this game. They will make this game close.
See
Someone forgot to cover Jenkins. Oops. No huddle caught us asleep.

Hey everyone.....
Finally in front of the TV. Great game so far!
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
Shotgun
Why don’t we go under center on 2nd and 3rd and 1’s?
Kuzina 1st down
Keep throwing them 5 yards at a time
Keep the clock moving
5 yards here, 5 yards there
Since I missed most of this game because family is in town ....
…. can anyone explain how the defense has held Juice and company down?
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
Gotta go 87 yards
on the vaunted Gopher Football Team Defense.
What happened on the last set of three? We ran on 1st down and only got 1 yard.
Being we are near the chicago area ill say this
YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOOARRRDDD YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
didn't he want to come to MInnesota for stability for his kids...
……. good school system
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
PJS
Defense has 4 sacks and has gotten fairly good pressure. Illinois probably tried running the ball too much in the first half. They’ve been fairly successful through the air.
Illinois missed a FG and has been stuffed on the 1/2 yard line. We also forced them into 2 FGs.
I'll be watching the Tivo, but as I was tracking on my PDA, I was half shocked it wasn't a shootout.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
Wow.
What was that? No one within 15 yards.
Missed sacks
We have 4 or 5 sacks, but could have 10. We’ve missed too many tackles. I know he is elusive, but…
Spry leads team in turnovers
WILLIE!
Willie tipped it. He’s had a huge game.
If score holds....
…… this is the biggest win in the Tim Brewster era. By far.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
Jesus. I can't believe we run out of the gun on 3rd and 1/2
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.

you realize
the Gophers might actually enter the top 25 this week? Do you think it’s possible? A 6-1 team with at least one pretty good win, and on the road at that…you’ve got to think that’s going to sway a few voters at least. Maybe that reporter from Jersey who voted for the Gophers wasn’t so crazy after all!
I still don’t really think this is a top-25 team, but hey, I’ll take it. One more win for a bowl (one more win to make sure of it that is).
I think they'll get votes. And I think Illinois is better than Purdue.
So winning next week on the road again isn’t out of the question.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
yeah why not?
who the hell would have thought 6-1, much less 7-1?

Toledo
First MAC win in the Big House. haha Rich Rodriguez
top 25?
If so, I am getting 2 hookers and leaving one dead in the trunk of my Lincoln
I'll see if I can edit these comments so there is no papertrail of your plans.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
You all have been pessimized to death...
This is a big win, and you guys should start to think like fans of a winning team. It’s no longer a question of IF you’re going to a bowl game, but which bowl game you go to. I honestly think you could win out your remaining games. You should be favored over Purdue, Michigan, and probably Iowa. Northwestern is a paper tiger. Wisconsin will be tough, but they’re definitely beatable.
Imagine that. An 11-1 season with your only loss to Ohio State is well within the realm of possibility. Not only that, but the symmetry with last season would be beautiful. If you all manage that, we could potentially have 3 11-1 teams assuming OSU wins out and PSU only loses to Ohio State. Who’d have thought?
