The first game of Tubby Smith's second season is upon us!
If you're trying to find the game, it's not on television, it's online. You should be able to find the game from this link. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. central time.
If you're looking for something to pass your time before the tip, Marcus Fuller looks at the five Minnesota newcomers. He notes Paul Carter's team-oriented attitude and Devron Bostick's difficulty adjusting. I'm hoping that latter storyline fades soon. Meanwhile, Myron Medcalf is predicting a starting five of Iverson, Busch, Carter, Westbrook and Nolen. Medcalf's on the scene so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but Busch starting seems to be a bit of a stretch.

For what it's worth
I got owned by Bucky in NCAA09 just now playing as the Gophers. I always play the team we’re playing during the current week and, if this game is any indication, it’s going to be a long day tomorrow.
I wouldn’t put much stock in it though; I emasculated (effing) Michigan last weekend and that clearly had no correlation to that actual game.
Is it bad that I thoroughly enjoy seeing Kentucky basketball lose?

Makes sense
Their strength is in their guards and wings, against a team like this they can get by playing almost exclusively those types. Iverson and Sampson have a longer way to go than I would have hoped, but they’ll be needed all season long.

It was my understanding
That they were calling hand checks more. Wasn’t that going to be enforced last season. It seems like the Concordia players are doing a lot of it.
I am woried
About the lack of an offensive identity… First game of the year with five new guys though… Bound to happen.
Honestly
I’m quite concerned about Sampson and Bostick. Iverson is a typical freshman. Carter is an athletic, streaky type player. Joseph seems like the only consistent player of the bunch, so they are going to hit some very cold patches.

Seems to be a bit slow, or maybe not quite have the strength for this level. If Concordia players are over powering and plucking balls out of your hands, the big ten season doesn’t really bode well for him.
