one play can mean so much
this would be such a different game if we got just one of those sacks on third down a few drives ago…instead they get a FG and more momentum. we need something…anything to spark us. it seems like guys are getting open, we are just missing. we can get back into it, but we need to start something on this drive
Who Hates Iowa?
I live in Iowa and am a huge Gopher fan and it’s funny how many people come out of the woodwork on this day every year. I’m getting texts from people I haven’t talked to in ten years. Iowa fans are the worst in the country.
Why?
I live just north of Iowa City and it is unbelievable teh harrassment I take. I went to Hy-Vee to buy beer about an hour before the game and had a group of people chanting at me in the store while I was in line. I’ve been to USC, Ohio State and Wisconsin and those fans don’t compare to the brutality of Iowa Fans.

guess that’s what happens when it’s the only game in town. You’d think people would be a bit less childish though.

My wife is a Michigan fan and we went to agame in Iowa City a few years back when Iowa beat Michigan at Kinnick and a guy spit on her Grandma at the stadium.

if it makes you feel any better, i’ve been rolling down my window of the car while driving around today yelling scornful things at anyone with iowa gear on…babies were not spared.

Why does Detroit have a bowl game anyways?
Minneapolis is a much better city. We should have a bowl game here. It could be sponsored by General Mills and called the Wheaties Cereal Bowl.

Getting Stanzi to use 3 timeouts in the first 8 minutes showed more life and attendance than I’ve ever seen from the Minny fans for an Iowa game.

women’s rowing: minnesota 4th, iowa 6th

So iowa fans may say who cares, right? Of course they would. Football is quite literally the only thing they have anything to boast about. Minnesota has one of the best athletic programs in the entire country.

That 7-1 start was probably a curse in disguise. They weren’t nearly as good as the record indicated. The games they were winning were by thin margins—remember how close the Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois games were? They could have lost all of those.
I don’t think there is any reason why we shouldn’t still be optimistic. We’ve got some good recruits coming in as well as getting Gray and Maresh back. Decker should be back and we’ll have some more talent at WR. The defense has one year under their belt and I think most everyone is back other than Hightower and Van DeSteeg.
We are essentially where we were before Mason left. But I think we have a much higher ceiling now.

But 55-0 is hard to swallow even if we’re at Mason level with a higher ceiling.

the 7-1 was a curse. This feels very much like an 0-4 team (for good reason), but we took steps forward. We are better than we were a year ago and we are poised to be better next year.
