Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

It has been rumored and now Marcus Fuller is reporting that it is confirmed.

WR-Ralph Spry (SO)
RB-Andre Tate (rFR)
WR-Jimmy Thompson (rFR)

are transferring.

None of the three really factored into playing a significant role in next year's offense. Having players transfer out is never a good thing but on the surface is appears to be players just wanting a better opportunity to participate. In Spry's case there may be more to the story as he appeared to be in Brewster's doghouse following a suspension in the middle of the season.

Good luck to these young men in the future, I hope they find a program that is a better fit for them.

Good luck

While it’s not good to have a consistant stream of exiting players it does free up space for people that might contribute. None of these guys are considered top end guys. It seems like we have too many WR’s anyway (with the ones coming in).

right

Tate and Thompson were never going to play. Spry would maybe contribute as a second string guy but would never be a major contributor. I wish them well but come next August we’ll all have forgotten all about them.

I agree with your last sentence.

I don’t recall any moments this past fall where I was thinking, “If only we still had Tommy Becker,” or “Oh, Mike Chambers, where art thou?”

But I disagree with your first sentence. To say a couple redshirt freshmen were never going to play is…well, I can’t say it’s false; you may be wrong or you may be right. We’ll never know.

Hell, just look at the contributions that Marcus Sherels and Ben Kuznia made this season as juniors. None of us fans saw that coming. If they would have transferred out last December, we all would have said they were never going to play, too.

I’m not going to lose any sleep over a few players transferring, but I wish they would have stayed. You never know what might have been.

tru but...

when the players ahead of them on the depth chart are also freshmen or sophomores I find it hard to believe Thompson would move up the depth chart. You are right, nobody knows.
