Insight Bowl - Gophers vs. Kansas
The Bowl that effectively began the Tim Brewster Era for the Gophers. More accurately it ended the Mason Era but you get my drift.
Expect much more coverage over the next few weeks, but here are a few interesting notes from the official game notes...
- Minnesota will be wearing our maroon jerseys
- All time series is 3-3, Minnesota won twice prior to 1900 (1893 and 1896). Then since 1966 the Jayhawks have a 3-1 record, last game played was in 1973.
- Team payouts - Each team will receive 1.25 million for participation. In the Big Ten the U of Minn will receive a set amount intended to cover costs associated to take the team to the bowl. The remaining money will go to the Big Ten where it will be pooled with all other Big Ten bowl money and evenly distributed to all 11 institutions.
- Broadcast: NFL Network (better get your DirecTV soon) with Paul Burmeister and Mike Mayock in the booth and Lindsay Soto (YEAH BABY!) on the sidelines.
- Kayak says you can get there for about $400 (fly out Tuesday, return on Thursday).
- The Big Ten is 2-2 all time at the Insight.
