Have a Good Weekend/Open Thread
As things slow down here this weekend, we wanted to provide everyone an opportunity to sound off on anything you like. What will Minnesota's 2008 record be? How much will the team defense improve this year with the JUCOs and Ted Roof?
Or anything else you like. Politics if you like. Do you know how many homes you own? :-)
This is also an opportunity for all of you to weigh in on what you have liked during the first couple weeks of TDG, what you haven't liked and what type of coverage you'd like to see more of.
We've enjoyed this new endeavor so far, and next week will be filled with coverage of Brewster's defensive line, linebacking corps, running backs, quarterbacks, a schedule breakdown, a look at Northern illinois, and by Saturday the first game of the 2008 season.
So ..... have at it.

Too many question marks on defense; no depth on offense = 3 or 4 win season. I do believe the defense will be vastly improved, but still nothing to write home about.
As for the site, this truly is amazing work me boys. I can’t imagine much work got done at the real jobs. Keep up the great work – I’ll try to help with some fan posts when I get a chance to attend practice or head to the Dome.
..
I think I’m going to go a little higher with the predicted win total. Optimism at the beginning of seasons always gets to me.
As for work/blogging …. I at least work from home most days, so that lends itself to free time, which is better spent blogging then watching recycled cable news.

Improvement
I think the site would be better if it linked to the awesome blog “Down with Goldy” more often.
The schedual is not exactly tough this year. I think 6-6 is very achievable only because of the schedual. I am looking forward to watching all of the incoming players and don’t want to expect too much of them in their first year. Hopefully they can learn from the guys who were here last year, and pick things up quickly. I am looking forward to next week, and the entire season! This site has been put together very well. Thank you for giving us fans a place to talk about Gopher sports! Good luck to all of our teams!
As I have been saying for years, this is one of the very hardest .....
….football coaching jobs in the Big Ten. The Reusse column today shows one of the many reasons why. The new stadium will help a bit. But, in the end, the notion of a three year honeymoon followed by a “Rose Bowl” is pure fantasy that will not float. With this schedule a four win season would be a disaster for Brewster and our program. Fairness has nothing to do with college football, it is time for Brewster to start winning football games and I get the sense he knows it.
Expectations
It’s amazing how the expectations game has changed in the last two years. If this were still a Mason operation, we’d be unhappy with anything less than 6 or 7 wins. Now many people are suggesting a 4 win season would be great.
I’m not saying this is good or bad, it has just changed significantly based on the 1-11 last year.

4 wins a disaster?
I’ll give you that anything less than 3-1 in the non-con would be atrocious, but I don’t see more than two wins even remotely likely in the Big Ten. You have to understand, last year was so terrible that you could have massive improvement and still be 4-8 or worse.
