Blog Poll v4.1 - Week 3

Well first and foremost those of you who have hounded me to include BYU have won.  Their undressing of UCLA has earned them a small splash into my top 25.  I'm still cautious in my ranking of the Mountain West favorites but they are certainly included.

Around the top I am sticking with my Oklahoma pick at #1.  I know USC destroyed Ohio State but Oklahoma went on the road to a BCS school and put up 41 in the first half.  Not exactly the same thing but is also more significant than beating the snot out of an FCS school at home.  They are clearly the best two teams out there at this point.

I also am not willing to throw Ohio State away because they lost to a great team on the road.  Ohio State is not good enough to be in a BCS title game, but they are still better then just about everyone else out there.

Dropped Out: Arizona State (#15), UCLA (#23).

Give me your thoughts, I just may change a vote or two.

Beat me to it

I was going to say the same thing. Sid put us at No. 22.

OSU

I just kept dropping them till we hit a team I was certain they’d beat. Wisconsin may beat them, but at this point OSU is still the team to beat in the Big Ten.

I actually thought about putting MN at 25, but I couldn’t justify it yet. Maybe next week.

what you say here can, and will, be used against you

OSU

you really thinkg the BUckeyes are the best team in the Big Ten? I’m not even sure they can beat the GOphers. Their offense is slow. They looked bad against Ohio U. They looked the same against USC. This isn’t a great, top 10 team.

Wisconsin went on the road and beat a good Fresno State team. They’ve obviously done more.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.

Good Job

This is probably the best poll I’ve seen with the exception of Tennessee. They lost to UCLA and UCLA got ANNIHILATED by BYU. Tennessee only beat lowly UAB 35-3. Living in Alabama, I know just how bad UAB is. If they played like they have been playing, they’ll be killed in SEC play and probably won’t be going bowling. But, if they turn it around, they’ll be deserving of the ranking. Just not right now.

BYU - Yeah Baby

I knew if I “hounded” you long enough that you would eventually see that the Cougars belong. Now with the Cougs moving into conference play there ain’t much to stop them. How about the Mtn West being 5-0 against the PAC 10? It looks like a two horse race between USC and the Ducks. I don’t give the Ducks much of chance against SC. I have to say I am very pleased to see that you have finally seen the light. Go Gophers! Go Cougars!

Florida State? Really?

They don’t even have a 1-A win yet. (To be fair, they haven’t played a 1-A team yet, but that’s equally ridiculous.) I’d leave them out just on principle for scheduling two 1-AAs.

I see what you are saying

I’ve had FSU just kind of lurking near 25 but when teams have been losing I’ve been slowly moving the up. I think I’ll drop them a couple spots in my final poll. I’ll move up BYU and Kansas, dropping FSU. It will look like this…

19. BYU
20. Kansas
21. FSU
22. Tenn

Penn State

loaded with talent and have looked pretty good so far
it might be a three way race for the big ten this year depending on how ohio state and wisconsin come to play come conference time
