Blog Poll v5.1 - Week 4

Alright Gopher fans, I think you'll be pleased to know that I am putting Minnesota in my top 25.  In defense of those who will tell me they are not a top 25 team, I would probably agree with you but I would argue that there are at least 5 teams in my top 25 who probably don't deserve to be there.  This isn't a top 20 so I'm going to be a blatant homer and put in Minnesota.

Nothing moved at the top.  Oklahoma and USC are clearly the best two teams in the country right now.  I was late to the party on BYU, but I'm comfortable with a Missouri attitude of "SHOW ME" before I rank you.  But after two straight beat downs I am happy to move them up.

1 Oklahoma --
2 Southern Cal --
3 Georgia --
4 Missouri --
5 Florida --
6 LSU --
7 South Florida --
8 Texas --

13 Penn State --

18 Utah 6
19 East Carolina 2
20 Auburn 6
21 Boise State 5
22 California --
23 Minnesota 3
24 Vanderbilt 2
25 Oregon 9

Dropped Out: Florida State (#21), Tennessee (#23), West Virginia (#25).

Give me your best shot, let me know where I suck and if I missed anything obvious.

WOW

I can’t take any poll seriously when you don’t even have the number one ranked team right. USC is head and shoulders above the field, there is no Vince Young to save the day. Too many athletes, USC will cruise to the National Title.

I tend to agree...

…. but by the end of the season, or should I say after Saturday, USC’s win over Ohio State wno’t look that impressive!!!

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.

Gophers

Don’t belong in the top 25 yet.

While being 4-0 is a great turnaround and record, in my opinion, they are no where near one of the top 25 teams in the country. If they beat OSU this week I’d give them the nod but I just don’t agree yet. If they lose to OSU and beat Indiana & Illinois I would also put them in the top 25.

OK...

THen who would you put in the top 25 instead of Minnesota ….

I don’t follow all of college football enough to answer that – I do think that if we were to play Tennessee or West Virginia we’d lose by double digits.

Teams right on the verge of getting in poll

TCU is the real deal. I wonder why Connecticut isn’t getting more love. Any thoughts on Ball State? Tulsa has looked really impressive. How about the Kentucky Wildcats? Nebraska or Colorado anyone?

I could go for Colorado, Kentucky and TCU — always loved the Horned Frogs! But I’m not giving Connecticut any love.

thank you

for not putting USC at number 1
we get to watch them get over hyped all year as they beat Pac 10 teams (no one besides USC from the Pac 10 is in the AP top 25)
sure they destroyed virginia at virginia I mean I know how amazing the acc is they are just an absolute power house
sure they beat ohio state at home but then again how good is ohio state these days?
I just think that when it comes down to it the best football week in and week out is being played in the SEC and the impossible schedules and grueling conference seasons that it hands out prepares the team that wins that conference for anything in the national title game (see the results past two years)

the mountain west on the other hand looks really competitive TCU Utah and BYU are all quality teams in my mind, that conference should be interesting to watch for a BCS buster

as for minnesota Im glad we didn’t end up with too many votes in the polls I want our upset to be all the more glorious

Apologies

Let me apologize for my earlier remark. Wow, was I wrong and I love it. Think about this:
This week we are only playing the team that was destroyed by the team that recently lost to Oregon State. Brock was right, there is ne need to fear the Buckeyes. LET"S PLAY!!!!!
