Gopher football to play USC

From Marcus Fuller at the Pioneer Press:

The Gophers are finalizing a contract to play a two-year, home-and-home football series against national power Southern California. Minnesota would travel to Los Angeles to play the Trojans in 2010, and USC would face the Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium by 2016.

Boy, that is the year Justin Conzeimus said we were going to the Rose Bowl to Paul Allen. He wasn't kidding. It's just a regular season game.

UCLA plays at the Rose Bowl, not USC

but this might still be as close as we will ever get to the Rose Bowl

Wow

I like it, though.

2010

That means 2010 would look like:

TBD
@UNLV
Washington State
@USC

I’m assuming the USC game would be fourth and not first. Otherwise that would be back to back road games out west to start off the season. But if they were back to back, I would probably go to Vegas for the UNLV game, stay in Vegas for a few days and then head to LA for the game at SC the next Saturday. That would be a nice trip!

Fantastic...

…can’t wait to see the Gophers playing in a game with the Song Girls on the sidelines and Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell looking on as well.

They very well may lose by 50, but at least we’re playing some good squads.

If you have to choose...

…what trip do you take? Los Angeles or Las Vegas?

I’ve had the Las Vegas trip marked on my calendar for over a year now, but with a USC game in the mix, I might have to make a change. I guess we’ll see what happens.

USC would be cool because we’d be up against a big time opponent, but UNLV combines perhaps the two greatest things in my life: Gophers football and Las Vegas. It’s a tough choice.

Do the LA trip

…..go out to LA on the Wednesday. Drive the four hour trip to Vegas for Thursday and Friday. Drive back to LA on Saturday morning and catch the Gophers game. Drive back to Vegas for gambling on Sunday.

You can unmark

that Vegas trip off your calendar. We canceled our 2010 game with UNLV in order to host USC.

I'm going

to this game.

Someone will sell me their tickets, and I’m going.

Only if...

..you are (1) a Song Girl, or (2) promise to bring a Song Girl with you.
