South Dakota State visits the Gophers - OFFICIAL GAME THREAD
South Dakota St. Jackrabbits at Minnesota Golden Gophers, Nov 14, 2009 11:00 AM CST
Final home game for the seniors today. Plenty of football left, but their brief tenure at TCF Bank Stadium will be finished this afternoon. A solid group and many of them will be missed.

I’m not loving on Weber, just want to watch the game without you pushing a Gray agenda on EVERY SINGLE PLAY. It’s annoying. Criticize when it is appropriate and cheer when appropriate, that’s all I’m asking

Blitz? Where did that come from?
Buck Bravo
by Buck Bravo on Nov 14, 2009 11:35 AM CST via mobile reply actions
Weber picks up the blitz again...8 yards deep on his back....the QB has to call the RB blocking scheme
no
the RB has to read where the blitz is coming from. don’t make things up.
Weber could have possibly gotten rid of the ball to save the 8 yards, but not every sack can be attributed to him.

seriously...what is Webers responsibility when he reads the defense?
He should be calling an audible and he should be reading who the blitzer is…calling his max protect coverage and getting the ball out quick to the open area left from the blitz…..The center calls out the blocking scheme to pick up the blitz….Bennet could have went the wrong way…but the QB just doesnt stand back there and do nothing….he should be pointing out to Bennet where the blitz is coming from. You surely dont take a 5 step drop and then fall down….thats if you know the blitz is coming..which he doesnt seem to.

I'm not defensive about Weber
just blaming every little thing on him when it isn’t warranted? I’m actually surprised the Gray fumble wasn’t his fault too?
the INT was his fault and a terrible pass. The pass before that was terrible. I am capable of seeing when he sucks. But when people turn on the TV and blame everything on him because they want Gray in, it frustrates me. It could be any player on the field. If someone starts blaming Collado because Wills misses his block I’d get annoyed about that too.

Woho
Gophers D has let up 19 yards of offense and we are losing. Oh Weber threw a pick 6 no way i cant believe that he is just too good to do something like that. I bet the other 119 D1 schools would start him. Well actually no i dont think he would even start at SDSU.
jg...u act as if we should have confidence in the coaches
Maroon and Gold Headquarters: The Daily Gopher
by PJS on Nov 14, 2009 11:54 AM CST via mobile reply actions
then why point to supposed lack of confudence among coaches as a reason to stuck with weber?
Maroon and Gold Headquarters: The Daily Gopher
by PJS on Nov 14, 2009 12:02 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Ok...we know we cant block...your best bet is a mobile QB...no brainer...dont need to think it past that....why is that so hard to understand?? Win on grays legs until he gets the passing game down....or suffer with weber...
DALLAS
I UNDERSTAND, I AGREE, BUT THE COACHES ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH PUTTING GRAY AT WR THAN PLAYING HIM IN HIS QB POSITION FOR ONE PLAY AND PULLING HIM.
If they put in Gray, they run the risk that he throws inaccurate passes, interceptions for touchdowns, and fails to recognize the blitz.

I bet the Weber is unflushable...just when you think you have done enough for it to be gone it will reappear...and continue to stink up the place

Nice play on D again...bailing out the offensive minds on this team
Carter might get cuffed at halftime for being an accomplice in that TD theft lol
Gray running a rotation of 5 plays would be an improvement vs an offense that loses yardage and gives up points. Weber has lost all confidence at this point and needs a break.

just be rational, that is all. I think we all want Gray in there, in a reasonable manner (a couple of drives, etc., not flip flop).

If the Gophers get the ball to start the second, that is the time to let Gray have a drive. It makes no sense to not let him get some snaps in a real situation (end of OSU game was not a real situation).

I know this is all Weber's fault
but does anyone else agree with me that this is the worst the OL has played in several weeks? Weber had a brutal 2nd quarter (he was 4/5 in the 1st), but the OL isn’t opening any rushing holes and has yet to pick up a blitz. They were playing better the last few weeks but today is YUCK.
Thank God for the defense today.

I mean seriously we have more to offer then 90% of the colleges. I mean this isnt Michigan or Alabama but should be a lot better then Boise Houston or even Cincinnati.
but they took unknowns who became good coaches

This O-line has been the number one reason the season has been so frustrating. they are just not good.
What really bothers me about that is—knowing that the o-line is so bad— why is there no plan for it? Why not more bubble/funnel screens? Why not let the running QB try and scramble for his life rather than the wooden puppet man?
Insanity is doing the same thing…
Fej...you just dont understand. Your inferior football mind is too small to realize that Weber gives us the best chance to win. lol In kidding of course...
Gray should be in there…he can move the pocket and when he does run he can really break it….Weber is running for his life. Gray is running for 6.

55-0 may look merciful if they play like this against the hogeyes.
NO STANZI................NO PROBLEM
SERIOUSLY, THE GOPHERS HAVE NO CHANCE AGAINST A TEAM LIKE CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT THE PIZZA PIZZA BOWL
Dungy? Why?
What apptitude has Dungy ever shown to be a good D1 college football coach? Its an entirely different game than the pros. The recruiting side makes each coach almost a GM. I personally don’t think he’s cut out for that. You just want him for his name, a common mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.
An absolute disaster of a game.
Keeping Brew around for another season is just delaying the inevitable.
