I didn't get a a chance to watch the exhibition game but here are some box score highlights...

1 - We shot well.
2 - Devoe had a big game off the bench
3 - Paul Carter started at PF and had 8 rebounds!

I was able to watch it...

Here are my thoughts. Westbrook was a black hole. I believe he shot on 90% of his touches in the half court offense. I think his minutes are likely going to decrease this year with the emergence of younger guards. DJ looked like a great captain, he should play a major role and hopefully help reduce the impact of the suspensions. Devoe looked better from range and was cutting nicely, should be better this year. Both the bigs looked strong, and clearly dominated a smaller opponent.

Regarding the two new guys: Rodney, as usual, looked like an athletic freak, but he also stroked two smooth 3s! It looks like he was telling the truth about working on that shot. Cobbs looked like he will be solid this year. Great shot and good size.

All in all, it looked like we will be a good team. Like most are saying, we are good, but can we be great with the termoil? We’ll see…

Rodney's Dunk

Since you can post videos now, how about getting a copy of Rodney’s dunk and putting it up?

It was a great game

I was fortunate enough to be there and got to see the Gophers reach triple digits scoring for the first time since I’ve been going here. Damian was easily the best player on the court and really set the defensive tone whenever he was on the floor. I’m looking forward to another year of watching him fill the box score, hopefully he gets some national recognition this year.

Other than that, I was pretty impressed with the passing of the bigs. Both Ralph and Colton had great vision with the ball when they were atop the key. Maybe this is a result of the weaker opponent, so there were more backdoor cuts available, but they both seemed to have some improved court vision over last year.

Williams played very well off the bench, as shown by his dunk toward the end of the first half. I’ve been looking for a video of it but have been unsuccessful so far unfortunately, and I’m skeptical since they didn’t even show a replay on the jumbotron at Williams.

If last night is any indication, we’re going to have a really fun season this year. Of course, it was Duluth, so this kind of blowout had to be expected.
