The "final" Royce White video. For now, White is saying that he is done with college basketball. I'm not 100% convinced we've heard the last on this but maybe for now there will be no more distractions for this year's team.

Royce

This whole ordeal has been a joke, so I’m glad it’s “over”. I really wish things could have worked out, but this seems to be the best end for both sides. Now they can both just move on.

And if basketball doesn’t work out for Royce, he can always go into file. The cinematography in this video was excellent!

Go Gophers.

I agree with you Gopher Nation

I am not convinced that we have heard the last of Royce White. Especially if he is cleared from this lap top issue.

right

if he gets cleared and Tubby says he’s welcom back, you better believe he’ll lace up his shoes faster than he’s ever laced them up.

Man, when is this guy ever going to learn?!

I hope he has fun working at a fast-food joint for the rest of his life, wondering what could’ve been…

"If we got to we're going to crawl in this locker room. And on our back is going to be an axe..."

He'll be playing pro basketball somewhere

It just may not be the NBA… The NBDL is probably full of head cases who couldn’t handle the “demands” of college life. The difference is he probably never would have gone to college had the NBA not changed their age requirements.

He obviously didn’t get the message from Tubby to be patient, go to class and shut up. If he had, the worst case scenario for him was probably red-shirting this season, playing the next year or two and then going pro. And unless there is video of him stealing said laptop and not just entering/exiting the building (unless the prosecutor was looking for pub) he would not have been charged and probably been practicing Jan 1.

couple things on this

1 – he would never have gone straight to the NBA out of high school, he’s not that good. When guys did they are almost always top 5 or 10 in the country, not hovering around top 50.

2 – he won’t get a sniff by the D League. Again roster spots are precious in basketball, why would they waste one on a kid with troubles who wasn’t even a top 20 high school player in the country. He’ll get a chance overseas but not at a high level in the US.

Agreed on all points

Even overseas there is no guarantee he will even play. Brandon Jennings was a top 5 guy like you mentioned last year and he didn’t play much in Europe.

what a waste

Did he think that the pros were going to be less stressful than college and the situation he put himself in? It amazes me that some people don’t understand that by putting yourself into a situation to get a record, if anything else happens and you are around, you are suspect #1. That is just how the police force works. This had nothing to do with Tubby or Maturi. He forced their hands. Walking away from basketball doesn’t make that go away.

I wonder if Rodney (who I believe is a friend of white) didn’t get to play because he voiced his displeasure with how white was handled. Wouldn’t suprise me. Tubby benched Westbrook and nolen because of their attitudes for a half. Why not a rookie for a full game?

Wait a minute

He was ranked #19, 32 and 35 by the three main sites (rivals, scout, ESPN). In addition, many prognosticators had him pegged as Big 10 Freshman of the Year. In any case, that is hardly hovering around top 50. I’ll give you the point that the NBA probably doesn’t draft him out of high school, troubles or no troubles… But to start downgrading his talent and potential is just trying to feel better about him not being part of the Gopher program. I’m still willing to bet he’d get a tryout in the NBDL, as they have the 18 age limit instead of 19 for a reason. And Latavious Williams was drafted by the NBDL, and he was ranked #17 from rivals (who ranked White #19).

sorry

I was mostly referring to lists like this that have the top 50 or so freshmen with NBA draft potential. At no point this year or last year on their list of high school seniors was White even on this list. White was falling as his senior season went along on all of the recruiting services sites.

I’m just saying he was probably considered a fringe NBA guy before all of this. He would have needed a big freshman season to get noticed or taken more seriously. Getting a chance for a tryout with and NBDL team is one thing, but actually getting a roster spot is another. If he wants to play professionally it will be overseas.

Star of the Video

Clearly the Washington Ave bridge is the star…..I wonder if this was edited on his new laptop?

But what a waste. Get the scholarship back and find a nice JUCO that wants to play…….I doubt the kid is passing any classes…probably the reason he is leaving.

well...

I’m not willing to make assumptions like that. It is too bad that he isn’t taking advantage of this opportunity cause there are thousands of kids who would gladly take his talent.

He's not that great people!

Everybody is swinging from this guy’s nuts. He wasn’t incredible…just keep that in mind. Decent? Yes. Very good? In high school in Minnesota, yes. Let’s just ease up on the professional stuff. He’s a mess. I’m good that Tubby recruited him, because you can’t let a guy like this leave the state. Gotta take the risk. So I think things are turning out just fine for the Gopher program, and just how they would have turned out for White anyway, if not this year than next year. All the free stuff these athletes get, and it is a LOT…he’s gotta steal some crap? I say good fu*&ing riddance…get the hell out of here Roycie…peace bra.

he is very good

mraveling is right, let’s not discount his talent because he is blowing this opportunity. He was considered by most to be the favorite for B10 freshman of the year. He would make a significant difference on this team. But if he is going to act like he has been I have no problem with Tubby moving on. I respect that. If he gets things cleared up and matures a little bit then I’d be ecstatic to have him back, I just don’t see that happening.

Agree, it's time to move on

I always root for the underdog story but this kid seems to self-absorbed to turn it around. Seems very Junior JR Rider like.

Don’t know anything about him but he’s very articulate, hope he makes it back.

I'm feverished, or the way you want to spell it
