It may not be immediate
but it’s definitely due to his health.
I’m happy he is able to make this decision. He is financially set for life, and should spend time with his family and recover his health.
Geez, Charlie Strong must feel cursed. First, he’s screwed over for the Gophers job in 2007, then he bolts for Louisville two weeks before the Florida job comes available.
Wow.
First of all, Good for Urban if he’s actually able to step away from football and focus on what’s important in life while he’s still reasonably young.
And JG, I disagree about Charlie Strong. I think Florida learned their lesson last time about making a former coordinator without HC experience the big headset when they hired . They’re going to poach a HC from somewhere.
Everyone fails. The successful learn from their failures. I just wish we'd quit giving ourselves so many learning opportunities.

I pity poor Cincinnati Bearcats
Their coach leaves for Notre Dame and won’t coach in the Bowl game with Florida. Now Meyer announces this will be his last game with Florida. Florida will be so pumped they will probably blow out the Bearcats. To bad, Cincinnati has a great team and I was hoping both head coaches would slug it out.
Update
Turns out he may only be taking a leave of absense. I don’t like the idea of leaving for a year and coming back with everything hunky dory….
