Derek McCallum a finalist for baseball's Dick Howser Trophy
The award is given annually by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association to NCAA's best college baseball player. McCallum was named one of 16 finalists.
Former winners include Robin Ventura, Jason Varitek, Todd Helton, J.D. Drew, Mark Teixeira and of course Mark Prior.
He has the numbers to be in the conversation but he doesn't have the name recognition to win it. I think it would be safe to assume that San Diego State pitcher, Stephen Strasburg is the heavy favorite to win. But being one of 16 finalists is a huge accomplishment and congrats to McCallum.

Uhhh....
..some guy named Alex Rodriguez won it too. And who could ever forget the only two-time winner of the trophy, Texas’s own Brooks Kieschnik?
I don't think ARod won it
Alex Fernandez and Frank Rodriguez both won it but not Frank Fernandez or Alex Rodriguez. When I was listing names I did that double take and had to make sure but
what you say here can, and will, be used against you
