Come on Gophers..

Do you really expect to be taken seriously anymore? You're athletic dept. has just put the nail in your coffin.  You are now dead to the rest of the Big Ten.  You are no long allowed to call anyone a "rival".  You are no long allowed to participate in discussions about Big Ten athletics.  In fact, you are no long allowed to be near a computer on which you may be able to access discussions about Big Ten athletics.  Despicable.  Cowardly.  Laughable.

GN, I think I represent the majority of gopher fans when I say

that we should briefly continue this new tradition and have this post deleted as well. I think we would all appreciate it. Thanks.

As it turns out

We as fans don’t make the decision of what to put in the media guide. What does it really matter anyway? Any fan knows what happened when we played Iowa last year. For all I care, you can remove the MN result from your 2010 media guide after the Gophers take Floyd back to Minnesota.

That's rather presumptious

Considering you’ve won exactly once in the past ten years at Iowa City, where the game is being played at this year, and five times overall in the past thirty years at Kinnick. And if you don’t mind me gloating for a second, being a proud Hawkeye fan that I am, I’d like to show you what success looks like:

wow

As a Minnesota alumnus from Texas, seeing Iowa fans create this thread makes me laugh. It’s like a lame version of the trash talk between Longhorn and Sooner fans, except instead of something involving national championship implications, Iowa constantly brags about keeping a pig statue.

I think I speak for most Minnesota fans when I say threads like this come across as kind of sad. Hey, Iowa won really decisively over Minnesota this year. Congratulations, even though none of you people who post here actually played in the game or had any bearing whatsoever on its outcome. I grew up rooting for the Longhorns, and was really happy when they beat Oklahoma this year. For two days. Then I let it go. For you Iowa fans, it’s been six months. Six months!

Maybe Minnesota takes Floyd this season, maybe not. But if the Gophers win, I guarantee that the Gopher fans on this board won’t be bragging about it months later. Even if we wanted to brag, we’d probably be too preoccupied with how well the basketball team is doing to care.

Point taken

And yes, you probably will be preoccupied with your b-ball team – I know Iowa fans wish we could have what you have in Tubby and Co. A starting five which doesn’t consist of any walk-ons.

As for your comment about Iowa fans: I’m sure I can speak for the majority of fans whose schools don’t compete for national championships year-in and year-out, these sort of games are what we reflect on in this very boring part of the sports calendar while awaiting the new season. And for programs like Iowa, things as trivial to you as a bronze pig or any Big Ten “trophy game” Minnesota plays in that is for some random, retarded object might as well be the giant crystal trophy that Wonderlick Superstar Vince Young got to hoist in 2005. It’s the ammunition we use to goad our rivals (yes, as much as you hate to admit it, Minnesota and Iowa are rivals).

Yes, Iowa fans hold onto big wins like 55-0. Just as I’m sure as the sky is blue, had the result been the other way around in Kinnick, we’d never hear the end of it from Gopher fans. Lord knows we hear our fair share of shit year around from Northwestern fans. It’s all part of the rivalry. So take your medicine now, cheer loud for the Gophers when they play in Iowa City this November and embrace being a fan instead of chastising Iowa fans for merely fucking around with our rival fan base.

Speaking of f#@cking around...

As the Iowa football team was embarrassing the Gophers on the field, Iowa fans were embarrassing themselves in the men’s bathroom.

Geez...

I was just pointing out that the result was strangely omitted. I actually happen to agree with what the auther of the article said…if anyone read it….that it was probably an honest mistake. Just trying to rib you folks in Iowa’s hat during the long cold (summer) of no college football.

Alright, so I'll admit I overreacted a little

but what you wrote doesn’t really come off as a fun little jab at someone. I read the article and also agree that the omission was very coincidental.

Aww, c’mon, the long cold of no college football? lol, how far north of you guys do you think we are??

Come people its Iowa

They play 3rd fiddle to athletics in the upper midwest. MN has big 10 Champion Track and field teams. I got to follow the MN golf team in the NCAA’s and Im following the Baseball team in the NCAA’s. We have the #1 rated wrestling recruiting class coming in. The Football team is out recruiting Iowa and will convert to many wins for years to come. The Basketball team is outrecruiting Iowa and has as good a shot at landing Barnes who is a Iowa basketball star, as Iowa does. Things are looking good across all sports. Heck even the volleyball team is great and has the #1 ranked recruiting class in the nation coming in. Let Iowa bask in the glory of their big win. I could care less about Iowa. All my friends from their are Gopher fans #1 and are Vikings and Twins fans as well. Good luck to Iowa…hope you have a great crop this year. I miss Iowa corn living here in Dallas…just not the same down here.

You know you have to coach your recruits when they come in, right?

Ron Zook would have 10 national championships if he coached as well as he recruited. TIMMY! is following the same trend of luring “top” names into campus only to motivational speech them to death after their first year. Meanwhile, Captain Kirk takes high school tight ends and turns them into AP 1st Team All-American Offensive Lineman (Robert Gallery and soon-to-be, Bryan Bulaga).

I think that Hawk fans should post articles on the Iowa blog

and Gopher fans should post articles here.

Friendly ribbing is fine in comments, but do we really need to be posting articles on each others’ sites? C’mon.
