The Gopher Baseball Team is HOT!

They are just a game out of first in the Big Ten with a 13-4 record and they are playing like a team with something to show. They lead the Big Ten in hitting and fielding. They just swept Iowa winning their last game 12-3. It looks like they have a good chance of winning the Big Ten Title. I can't see them getting an invite to the College National Tourney.

I see, too, where the Big Ten Network will broadcast all the game in the Big Ten Tournament starting May 20th.

actually they are likely to get an at large bid to the Regionals

Their loss to St. Thomas (D3) last week hurt but their RPI is actually really good and barring a collapse they will get into the NCAAs this year.

The Big Ten is a weak baseball conference but they tend to get two or three in much of the time. Last year was only one or two, but I know two years ago Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State all made it in.

what you say here can, and will, be used against you

I see I made an error...

I said “I can’t see them getting to the National College Tourney” when I should have said “I can’t see them NOT getting to the National College Regionals.” My bad!

I don't think the St Thomas game counts in RPI

It counts as a scrimmage. If anything it would destroy any credibility of winning an at large bid. They kind of fell out of most of those conversations a few weeks ago anyways. That said, the can still win the BTT. They have 3 starting pitchers who can take on anyone else in the field. This weekend with Michigan will be a big litmus test. Michigan is just starting to play to their potential (good but not great). I don’t think either team will sweep this series, but it should be a great series.
