What do you guys think of this? Like? Not like?
Does this put the Vikings on the fast-track to the Super Bowl or will Favre destroy our season like he did last year for the Jets and we will have more reason to hate him and the Packers forever.

Cutler > Favre
Sorry.
Kill, maim, pillage, burn! Kill, maim, pillage, burn! Eat babies! Badger babies!
Felix...
don’t ever defend a Bear on here…EVER! :)
Cutler will be worse than TJax or Sage or JD Booty.

You can't be serious
Even with the blatent homerism that most fans have (myself included), there’s no way you actually think Tarvaris (or John Davis Booty for that matter) is going to be better than Cutler. I know I’m a Bears fan, but unless those guys suddenly turn into starting caliber QBs overnight, it’s insane to say they’re better than Cutler. That is, unless you think Cutler is a backup caliber QB, which is also a ludicrous idea.

I KNEW IT
you are a Bears fan! I didn’t “was going to be better” I said IS BETTER (or ARE BETTER)
lets play a matching game. You put the QB to his 2008 QB rating…
86.0
95.4
93.8

Aaron Rodgers
Jay Cutler
Tarvaris Jackson
ps (I wasn’t all that serious, Cutler is probably better than JD Booty)

I might have to send an e-mail
to M.C. questioning his intern hiring practices.

Ha
I’m also a White Sox fan, for what that’s worth.
You can ignore the fact that Cutler completed a higher percentage of his passes, threw more TD and more yards. Tarvaris had a good season last year, but until he proves that he can do it for an entire NFL season it’s pointless to bring his play up. He’s been bipolar so far in his career, and has made some really idiotic decisions.
I’m not saying that Cutler is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but he’s certainly an above average starting QB. We still gave up way too much to get him, but frankly I’m fine with it given how long its been since the Bears have had an actual starting caliber QB at the helm. Still, I’d say he’s more likely than Tarvaris to continue his past success.

White Sox?
as soon as I can figure out how, I just might have to ban you

Not so Optimistic
Favre was less than impressive last year, throwing as many int’s as TD’s. I just don’t think he has anything left. He always had the cannon that he could take chances on and squeeze the ball in there, now it is getting picked off. I want a franchise QB, not another band-aid. If Sage or T-Jack isn’t the answer, let’s draft one next year. We won’t find out that answer with another year of Favre though.
Just make sure the contract is highly incentive laden, because nobody else wants him, that should tell you something in itself.
do we know that nobody else wants him?
Green Bay doesn’t want him because Ted Thompson is an ego-maniac
Chicago doesn’t want him because they just gave up their draft for Cutler
NY Jets do not want him because they drafted Sanchez
Brett doesn’t want to go anywhere else, is the biggest factor.
And remember the Jets were 8-3 last year. Asking him to throw 40 times a game will wear down his arm and you’ll see a ton of INTs, BUT limiting his throws to 30-32 att/game (or less) will keep things wide open for Purple Jesus and I think you’ll see him play well all year. I hated the guy for a couple decades but he is the right fit for this team.

I think Farve may be good "insurance"
But I guess I wouldn’t want him to be the “starter” unless he earns it. We know he’s been some trouble in the locker room, he has had some arm problems, and IMHO he’s a jerk but he’s a heck of a QB.
Childress has made the locker room much more professional than in the past. The last thing we need is someone disruptive coming in. But I think Childress can keep that under control as well as some of the veteran players. His arm condition is a problem and he may not even be able to play up to his usual skill levels. The Vikes have to find that out and they will before they sign him.
All in all, I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the team, I just don’t want him to automatically be the starter. Jackson is entering his fourth season when he should be reaching his peak. Sage could surprise us all and be great. The Vikings don’t need a super QB, just someone who doesn’t panic in the pocket and has his head on straight.
Favre was always a high-risk, high-reward type of QB (willing to make ridiculous throws that usually worked for him but had occasionally disastrous results). I’m not sure he’s realized that he can’t make that kind of throw as effectively anymore, which means I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up the NFL’s version of Jarrett “Pick-Six” Lee next year if he comes back.
Unlike many on PT
I have no problem bringing him in “if” he can really help this team. That means, signing early and working hard to get physically and mentally ready. It also means earning it on the field every week.
Personally, I’d think it was pretty darn funny if he led us to a great season. I know many others can’t get over their anti green/gold bitterness but it would make for an interesting season.

I love it!
All of my Packer buddies are so torn up right now… I think he will be a good fit in purple!
as much as it may hurt to see Favre
whom we have all hated for so long. It is far worse for Packer fans.

For every fan that boycotts...
…there are 50 new fans that will cheer loudly for the first time. And if Favre leads this team to the “Promised Land” you will be saying, “I wanted him all along.”
Favre Forever
I think the man is an embarrassment to his family lately. He might have a good year this year as a Viking, but it will only end bad for him at some point. It’s very intriguing from a marketing standpoint for MN, including a better stadium stance if success is gained this year. As a Packer fan, I love the athlete, and will cheer him as long as I can, except during Packer games. Vikes will definitely be a natl contender with Brett.
