Since I already posted my top 5 in the other thread..

I’ll just mention other awesome TV shows, some of which were already included in comments here. The first season of Californication was pretty enjoyable, mostly because David Duchovny is hilarious. I haven’t seen any of the second season, but it’s on my to-do list.

The West Wing was also a great show. My dad used to tape it and basically run marathons on Saturdays, so I’ve caught just about all of the early episodes and it has some of the best writing for any show I’ve seen in a long time. I strongly suggest it to just about anyone, it’s really easy to get hooked on.

A more recent show I’d suggest is Better Off Ted. It’s a single-camera show (ala Arrested Development) and is pretty damn funny. Portia de Rossi is hilarious, as is just about everyone on it. The first season had a hiatus in the middle, but it looks like it’s coming back next week to finish the first season. If you’ve seen/enjoyed Andy Richtar Controls the Universe, it’s very, very similar (made by the same person) and just as good if not better.
