Calvin Phillips Reportedly Commits to be a Gopher
There are preliminary reports on the Internet that highly touted running back Calvin Phillips, a top prospect for the 2011 recruiting class from Illinois, has committed to Minnesota. As a 6'2, 205 pound junior, Phillips has the size to be a bruiser as a running back.

He’s not playing against great competition. To put that in perspective, Caledonia won the 2A championship last year.
So to answer your question, I could argue with that. ;-)

but I would still bet the list is really short of Sophomores (even at the 2A level) who racked up 1,400 yds and 24 TDs.

Some lucky team in the Big 10 will feature a starting DT from Caledonia, MN in 2009!
He passes the eyeball test
He looks and runs like a stud. The forty time might be a tad too slow to be considered a top 10 running back, but he has couple of years to improve it. Nobody hits their top sprinter potential when they are 15 years old.
