Meet Elliot Eliason a 6'11" center from Chadron High School in Nebraska.

Eliason was at the Air Force game last weekend for a visit and verbally committed this week. This commitment leaves 2 scholarships available. With Damian Johnson, Lawrence Westbrook and Devron Bostick graduating I would expect the remaining two scholarships to go to a SG and a SF.

According to Myron over at the STrib Eliason averaged 15 pts, 10 rebs and four bcks per game as a junior when he earned Nebraska's Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

Thank God

Tubby finally got one to sign on. I am really hoping for Cory Joseph and either Frank Williams or Moses Morgan. Apparently Williams can really shoot it.

I think I got

really spoiled after White signed so early last year.

Joseph is THE get of this class

he will make or break this class. I’m hoping Eliason gets a year to redshirt since his resume/pedigre doesn’t really indicate that he’ll be ready to contribute immediately.

When I looked at last year's team

I noticed three main area’s that were lacking.
1. An interior rebounding presence, which is why we could never hang with teams like MSU.
2. A starting caliber pure PG. Someone who could bring the ball up the court and play call to run a halfcourt offense.
3. A consistent 3 point shooter/GoTo scorer.

I think they have 1 covered with the addition of Mbakwe and White (assuming Mbakwe plays), plus with Paul Carter getting more PT.

I think 2 will be a nagging issue all year, but if we got Cory, that would change in 2010.

I think the addition of someone like Frank Williams for 2010 and Hoffarber just leveling out for 2009 will fix number 3.

1 – Mbakwe fills that need (if he’ll be playing).
2 – Nolen struggled in Big Ten play, but he is a pure PG, just not a scorer. He’ll be helped greatly by other offensive weapons
3 – Williams, an increased role for Devoe and Hoff getting back on track should greatly help the outside shooting. AND White should be an explosive scorer (but we’ll see).
