The California Golden Blogs does a great job breaking down what the Cal Bears need to do offensively to shut down the Gopher offense and what they need to do offensively against the Gopher. These are great opposing viewpoints heading into the game.
Cal's Defense vs. Minnesota's Offense
Cal's Offense vs. Minnesota's Defense
Good stuff with some nice video clips from both teams. CGB does a great job breaking it down.
- Another opposing viewpoint on Gophersports.com, who asked some questions of Jonathan Okanes of Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune.
- TCF Bank Stadium will be open to the public on Oct. 4th. This will be the only time the lockerroom and other inner facilities will be available to the public. Details HERE.
- Seantrel will be on the cover of ESPN's RISE Magazine.
- Here is a rant about Brewster's heli ride to watch some local high school football.
- I just loved this article on why another article on Jeter's MVP resume is just a piece of trash.

Damn you stinking Gophers!
Why can’t you be more disagreeable. Say something nasty about Cal. Stop being so freaking pleasant and level-headed and amicable. At least mock our colors or our prevailing political philosophy. Misspell our school nick-name by replacing the C with a K.
You’re making it very very difficult to dislike you people.
Mark it "8", Dude.
Well, what can we say? We'll just be happy if we don't get blown out!
Either way, our crew will be funneling our Cal friends with beer until we all can’t feel feelings anymore!

some people don't get dollars and cents
Expenses like the helicopter ride are intended to bring in good players for the program. In order to sell out the stadium, there will eventually have to be a good team on the field. There’a.tern for this…marketing. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money. What’s wrong with trying to build a team that will generate more $ for the U? Isn’t the football program a money maker for the school? Bý my calculations last year, the school would have to raise tuition a few hundred $ per student if there was no football revenue coming in.

Cost
The cost of this couldn’t have been more than $1,000, you can rent a small helicopter for about $250 per hour. The publicity we got from this was well worth it, since it was unique and if it helps us land Henderson or Allen it’s all gravy. Money well spent in my opinion, but then I was a marketing major not an accountant.
AH
but what if we don’t get Henderson or Allen?

Marketing
Thats why bean counters don’t run companies well….you need visionaries and business men. The accountants just keep you from going to jail and/or broke…or at least they should hehe…not really a solid statement as of late.

We should get together tonight
For a pre-game Cal/Minnesota blog-o-drink-a-thon. Golden Gophers and Bears all welcome. (As a side note, I went to Cal in 2006 when the Gophers played there, and their fans were very nice to us—even though we did beat every frat house champion at beer pong.) I’m thinking campus will be buzzing even the night before the game—something you didn’t get when the games were at the Dome.
Stub & Herb’s is my favorite place on campus, so I nominate that one…although Liquor Lyle’s is my favorite bar in town.
Helli Ride
Man….I will never get far enough away from the panty waists that rip sports in MN. If that idiot did any research the Gopher football program collected $76millon more than needed on the fundraising for the stadium. That money went to the colleges general fund if I recall what I read. Meaning it went to the joe blow student and to academic scholarships for kids to go to the U of M. And to sit back and rip a coach for trying to make a team better is retarded.(that person is an insult to the mentally challenged so I apologize in advance) But to go just to Irondale is stupid, but to go from moundsview to Minnetonka etc on a Friday night and spend any meaningful time at either site would require a helicopter…Friday night traffic is atrocious in the Twin Cites from 3pm until 8pm and in some areas its hell until 10pm….Hats off to Brew…it had to mean a lot to the guys he was recruiting and opened the eyes of some marginal kids to maybe walk on at MN.
