Lining Up the Stars Versus Syracuse

Saturday marks the commencement of the showdown between the Gophers and Syracuse.  How do the teams compare?  As far as talent on the field is concerned, let's take a look using the Rivals.com stars ratings:

Syracuse_medium

Based solely upon the Rivals.com stars ratings of the players scheduled to start, Syracuse has a slight advantage over Minnesota.  While there is plenty of uncertainty in high school rating predictions, as a whole the ratings system tends to be a fairly accurate prediction of performance.  I'll avoid all commentary and personal predictions, and let the numbers speak for themselves.

I like all our Seniors on Defense.
And Weber vs. Paulus is huge.

Same thought

9 out of 11 seniors on D and 2 juniors. Bodes well.

I don't know if I would still consider Paulus a 5-star recruit

Considering his 4-year football hiatus I would definitely knock him down to a 4 or even a 3-star. He may think it’s like riding a bike, but in his case going from H.S. to college with 4 years in between is like jumping from a bicycle straight to a crotch-rocket!
