What We Learned

After reviewing the game multiple times, careful consultation of my magic 8 ball, and playing with the Flanker Mutt (who was wearing her Gopher collar), I have come up with a comprehensive review of what happened on Saturday and what we've learned about the team.  I have watched it from multiple angles and multiple definitions, including HD from my couch, HD from my recliner, and SD from my bed.  I've used all my years of playing, coaching and watching to prepare this summary.

So without further adu, here it is: We still don't know a damn thing.

Agreed

I have gone back over this game many times and have read many posts here, the strib, CBS sports and ESPN etc….What I really see is that our offense had no identity until the final drive…even overtime they bailed on what they did in the final drive. The offensive coordinator(Fisch) needs to get a more targeted attack. We were all over the place for the most part…running on 2nd and long, passing on 1st and ten, some interesting personnel packages early in the game which never reappeared. It was strange to watch. I for sure did not know what they were doing….didnt really see a game plan. Maybe Syracuse was unscoutable with their new staff….at least Cosgrove was able to adjust to the offense they were running which is a great sign, and even better, the defense executed the changes. That tells me they have some multi dimensional players and some athletes on defense.

What comes out of this? Good luck on Air force being able to scheme against our offense…for the love of all things holy they will have not clue what we will try as MN really didnt either. It may play to our advantage if the offense can switch it up in game and actually execute like the defense did. Im hoping thats the case.

The second part of your sentence indicates a coach (Fisch) who has good ideas Monday through Friday, but has little idea how to coach during a game. Thankfully, Cosgrove had the ability to correct problems in the game.

Makes me wonder if...

Are we are still hiding are true identity for the “tougher” games?
Are we going to look this haphazard all season?
Did I have my hopes to high for Fisch?

I do think Syracuse is an OK team, If I was a Syracuse fan I’d be a little optimistic.
