TDG's blog poll - Week 1 (v.1)

round 1 of this week's ballot.  Most of my movement was adjusting for the results, I didn't make a whole lot of adjusting for teams that won but won ugly (Iowa dropped a little but not as much as they maybe should have).  I'm not going to spend much time explaining it, it is what it is.

I feel pretty good about my Miami ranking and not having Oregon ranked at all.  I moved Boise up, but maybe not as much as I should have just because I'm not convinced Oregon is any better than 4th in the Pac-10.  Boise will move up slowly as there is really no reason they should lose the rest of the year.  They should move to the MWC and make that conference significantly better, seems like a win-win to me but I'm just armcharing with that opinion.

Anyway, on to the ballot...

Very well. Notre Dame is too high right now. I think they’re a mid-teen team, and I won’t believe otherwise unless they beat MSU. Georgia shouldn’t be ranked. Their offense looked putrid, and Okie St.‘s defense isn’t as good as it looked. I would have moved everyone up and added somebody that slaughtered inferior competition at the bottom, like Tennessee or Air Force. Air Force is #1 in some polls, you know.

I was comfortable with my ND pick before

and I’m cool with it now. They didn’t move up but I think by the end of the year they’ll spend some time in the top 10 (though they’ll get killed by USC).

I didn’t watch much of UGA, but I’m pretty sure every team in the SEC should be ranked in the top 5.

hmmmm

Again my only problem is, where are the Gophs????

All they did was go into the buzz-saw that is the Carrier Dome and face
a quarterback who played at one the all time greatest basketball programs
ever. What do they gotta do to get some respect? Geeezo-Beezo!

after they beat Cal

I’ll put them in the top 10.

is that a deal?

Some teams to high

Like Notre Dame and Georgia. ND I predict will lose this week to Michigan its hard to have them a top 10 team at this point and even if they do beat Michigan top 10 is still a little high although Floyd is the best WR ive saw since Fitzgerald (wish the Gophs had him for sure). Georgia has no offense so being in the top 20 after that performance is to high. Where is Mizzou and Cincy should be a little higher. I like Cal at 4 i think they are really good hopefully minny can hang tough i think we could surprise them at TCF they havent traveled well but I will need to see improvement at home this week mostly in the coaching and Webers accuracy. I still am also questionable on Ole Miss as they didnt look that good vs conf usa Memphis until the very end but everyone has them in the top 10 so maybe im missing something.

A couple quibbles

Georgia Tech would throttle Georgia right now, and won by 20 on Saturday. I don’t get why you’d drop them.

East Carolina beat App. St. (obligatory sigh here) Saturday. Why again would they be moved up? Do you really think they’re better than, say, Clemson, Northwestern, or even Rutgers?

And by the way, Cincinnati destroyed Rutgers, AT RUTGERS. Who you rated at #18 last week. Why then is Cincinnati #25?

so I didn't get a chance to make any changes but I do appreciate the feedback

Rutgers/Cincy - I didn’t move Cincy way up because maybe I just had Rutgers overrated to begin with.

Georgia – I think around 16 is a decent spot for them to be right now. Maybe GT could be ahead of them and maybe Miami, but I’m not going to drop them because they lost on the road to a top 10 team just because they ‘have no offense.’

Georgia Tech – yes, the won by 20 but it was Jacksonville St. I felt that BYU and Boise made bigger statements and deserved to move up.

ECU – moved up by attrition. They are a sleeper team in my world, but their fate will be decided this weekend.
