Uh Oh...Al Nolen ruled academically ineligible
This was expected for several days now but the shoe finally dropped. This will have dramatic implications on the rest of the season, time for other guys (I'm looking at you, sophomore class) to step up.

Is he really that dumb....
In todays educational world, being a basketball stud has its advantages. Tutors, assistant coachs, alumni are all willing to lend a hand. The classes are probably pre third grade classes. You have to be trying not to pull off a passing grade. Or should I say, not trying to pull off a passing grade. What a complete idiot.
Hurting himself more than the team?
In total agreement with you, kbrun22. Can’t say what the coursework of a Communication Studies major is, but when dropping below the easily attainable threshold of a 2.0 GPA happens, there better be some shape mounted on the shoulders of Nolen. Hope he doesn’t come back until he puts his studies and degree first.

Inexcusable
I know he is appealing the decision, and it sounds like there is at least some case for his appeal, but this is inexcusable for a junior. He knows full well what is expected of him academically.
