The wait is over!
Gopher fans can now relax. According to some sources, Cory Joseph has committed to Minnesota tonight. This is coming a day after his longtime friend Walker committed to Minnesota. Now we wait on Chim Kadima, Wisconsin baller who is close to making a choice. What do you guys think this means for the Gophers next season? Can they finally get over the hump of early round exits? I think this is the closest thing to a John Wall/DeMarcus Cousins combo that the gophers could get. Should be fun to watch the duo next year.

I asked in the previous post why I am so cynical about Minesota having this kind of success.
But if this is true, my cyncism is OVER! YIPPEEEEEEEEE!
Trying to find a link to support what I saw on Twitter. So far can’t find anything. i’ll keep looking though.

Sources
Yeah, well, if you remember yesterday’s post about the US vs World game over the weekend, “according to some sources,” Cory Joseph had already committed to Texas too. I’m putting zero value in this “news” until we hear something from a credible source… as opposed to a one-off from a Twitter post that the author can no longer find.
The latest
The real news on Joseph, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal… the headline says it all.

They also list
Minnesota as one of the last 2 and UNLV as being in the top three, which I just don’t see.
Uconn has Napier from the 2011 class moving into the 2010 class. There is their PG so I would count them out.
I would put the top 2 at MN and TX, with Nova in third, UNLV in fourth and Uconn bringing up the rear.

personally if I were Cory
I’d probably go to Nova. The Devoe factor is key, but Nova runs that guard oriented offense that has really featured guys over the last few years. He’d get great exposure by the nature of the offense, he’d get great playing time because they play so many guards, he’d be in the Big East who the media absolutely loves and Nova has put a few guys into the NBA in recent years.
The Devoe draw (and Walker) is the best thing we have going for us along with the fact that reportedly his mom loves Tubby. He’d have great opportunity to succeed here as well but I wouldn’t blame him for going to Nova.

true
But with Uconn in the running for two other top points, plus another prospect next year moving up to this year (or so I heard) they are pretty much out. Texas only made noise when they had Durant otherwise the choke almost every year. But if Moore/Johnson leave Purdue, McCamey leave Illinois and Turner leaves OSU, the Gophers could have a really solid chance to compete for a big ten championship (assumes a lot of stuff though).
But if his mom is behind Tubby, think how much easier it would be for them to watch their kids play? Both at the same place. That has to be appealing. It’s also a big reason why I would just discount UNLV right now. He isn’t really from there.
In summary, Texas has the most talent (but never really does anything with it because of Barnes), Nova has the best system to make him look really good but doesn’t really have the team balance to go on a tourney run and the gophers are probably the best fit from a need perspective with balance assuming Mbakwe returns and maybe white returns.
But what do I know (I’m biased).

And Lunardi puts us as the #9 seed against 'Nova as the $8 seed in the 2011 NCAA Tourney
Yup, you read it right. He’s picking the 64 team field for next year already.

Pointless
You think he would at least wait until after the spring signing period. If you look at his 2011 bracket prediction, you’ll notice it is remarkably similar to the 2010 version. Like I said, pointless. But I’m sure it gets Internet hits nonetheless.
