Justin Cobbs is transferring

Justin_cobbs_mediumNothing official and the U of Minn has not sent anything out, but the message boards are lighting up that Cobbs has informed the coaching staff he will no longer be a Golden Gopher.

Pioneer Press has a story.  Cobbs is likely transferring closer to home in California.

This opens up yet another scholarship for 2010-11.

PAGING Cory Joseph...we need you.

UPDATE:  Or he's not transferring.  This from Sid...

All the media are reporting that Justin Cobbs, the Gophers point guard from Torrance, Calif., is transferring to a school closer to home. But the other day in the company of two of his teammates, Cobbs told me the rumors of his transferring are not true. We'll find out if he was telling me the truth.

This is turning out to be quite the soap opera.

God I hope this means

that he was told another PG was coming in and he would not get more playing time. Fingers are crossed.

what a bizarre offseason

Mbakwe trial pending
Royce White maybe talking with Tubby, maybe not
Cory Joseph possibly making this a top 20 recruiting class
Carter transferring because of his dying sister
Cobbs transferring to be closer to home
Nolan trying to get academics on track

predicting who will be on this roster next fall is about as difficult as accurately predicting every game in the NCAA tournament.

I wish Cobbs well

but I don’t think he was a future All-Big 10 player.

Do we know

if Nolan is working to regain his eligibility or is he a goner??

I never really saw anything from cobbs that made me think he could contribute to the team at a high level. apparently he was posting crazy stuff on facebook/twitter as well. anybody know what that was about?

don't know anything about internet stuff

but I really liked what I saw of Cobb, true PG, quick, didn’t set the world on fire but didn’t look out of place. I’ll be interested to see how he develops.

I'm feverished, or the way you want to spell it

Then

I guess we are only down to a potential Joseph signing now that they are going to sign Oto to replace Carter. Pretty much means White is not coming back, right?

Depends if he makes up his mind or not

I mean how many times has he said he’s coming back and then said whoops never mind?!?

He’s worse than Favre…. :p

My guess he’s not coming back.
