Trevor Mbakwe to Miss Rest of Season with Torn ACL
Minnesota's best player, a preseason 1st Team All-Big Ten selection is going to miss his senior season after just seven games. This is awful news.

If you really wanted to see the Gophers win you better go in December
It will be a struggle the rest of the year to keep up with the teams on their schedule.
shit
Could the new season for hoops have gone off the rails anymore quickly? It’s going to be a brutal year unless someone steps forward. Damn.

Maybe But Why Not Wait & See?
Very tough news for the young man.
Ingram and Osenieks have to step up. Perhaps Walker can recover by B10 play.
Look for Gophers to go with 3G offense.

40 years
please don’t rush Mo back. It won’t make a difference this year—- let’s take our lumps and rack some experience this year but don’t burn a yr. of his eligibility on this cluster bomb of a year. This year for me is one long let’s get ready for next year. Let’s see if Dre can develop into a legitimate PG. Let’s give EE a ton of hard knocks experience, etc.
Agree
No rushing him. But PERHAPS he will be ready to play by January?

He could probably...
But why would he? He is 23 already, has a family and (probably like all of us) could stand to make some money, even if that is 100-200K overseas. Unless he is set on making the NBA and won’t be ready in time for pre-draft workouts, he gains nothing by coming back here.
No
His transfer period, nor all that trouble with the courts will be deemed to be sufficiently beyond the control of the athlete or institution to be worthy of waiving the 5 year rule.
His tweets would tell me he's not interested in returning...
…a lot about money…wanting it, needing it, not having enough of it. That, and the fact that he’s got to be tired of the college lifestyle and grind. I can’t imagine him even wanting to come back. Other than the ability to sleep with random 20 year old women and take endless naps during the day…I wouldn’t want to touch college with a 10 foot pole.
I feel bad for him. He worked his ass off and was the only player worthy of a Gopher jersey this year in my opinion (my highly disputed opinion). He made me proud. He was pushing guys, showing the the right way to work hard. He got better in the off-season.
Tejas, I also agree to leave Mo in street clothes…even if he can come back in January….we need a full season out of big fella, so we should just eat this year and work to come out more experienced and better next year.
The Minnesota Folly continues….
wait, what?
You were being sarcastic, right? Endless naps and random 20 year olds and you would say no?
On second thought....
…..where do I go to sign up?
But damn…I’d burn out after a single weekend. Like I do when I go to Vegas. Damn it, I’m old…I cannot go back…but I can encourage Junior to enjoy it I guess.
I remember being there though, and I could not WAIT to get out toward the end…get a job, make $30,000/year (ha ha ha…that was starting salary back then for a CPA), no more exams! No more studying! I was ready….so thinking about it in that light, how about we call it even and we just go back to our mid 20’s when you could sleep with countless women in their 20’s, 30’s AND 40’s, but not have to take tests? And you could nap all weekend long? Agreed?
