Future Gopher Philip Nelson wins Minnesota AP Player of the Year

Nelson finishes his career at Mankato West completing 61% of his career passes for over 7,500 yards, and 94 touchdowns. The yards and TD throwing numbers rank him 2nd in state history in both categories. This season Nelson threw for over 2,700 yards and 35 TD's, while running for over 1,200 yards and 20 TD's. That means Nelson accounted for 55 TD's in 12 games, or 4.5 TD's/game... wow!
