Apparently this is a bit of a risk for Kill and co. because Gillum "did not have the grades to enroll at Northern Illinois" when Kill was NIU's coach and was recruiting him four years ago. Miller argues that Kill is likely recruiting Gillum because the Gophers are desperate for some depth at running back, and it's a risk they're willing to take. Gillum's JUCO coach says the recruit's grades are "in order" and is confident that Gillum will be a big impact for Minnesota.
