Fan Review of Illinois Game
We played hard and fought for rebounds tonight at least so effort was not the problem, but...................
Offensively, I imagine watching this team would be like dating the hottest chic at school, but she sleeps with all of your friends instead of you. Incredibly frustrating, embarrassingly painful, and it pisses you off so much that you want to pull your fucking hair out. If you saw the game, you will know exactly what I am talking about.
No this analogy isn't from personal experience, unfortunately I've never dated the hottest chic at school.

This team … well all of Tubbys teams here … have been excruciating to watch offensively. It’s compounded now because the only PG we have is lightly recruited Maverick Ahanmisi.

I Guess Gopher Recruiters Should Have Anticpated
The transfers of Joseph and Cobbs plus the injury to Nolen.

I hear you .... Hard to predict Nolen injury and Joseph transfer
But Cobbs wasn’t B1G caliber and neither is Ahanmisi. I guess Ahanmisi as a third PG is fine, but he has obviously been thrust into playing time he can’t handle. Both Cobbs and Mav aren’t B1G PGs, and it’s frustrating we recruited them and spemd time trying to develop them.

What really worries me
Is that as desperate as this team is for a PG, none of these guys is getting real playing time. That tell’s me they just aren’t that good. What’s going to happen next year, when Nolen AND Hoffarber are gone. They may have the worst starting guards in the Big Ten next year. Scary.
I sure don’t feel inspired to renew my season tickets for $1,200+ next year.
Disagree On Cobbs
He is talented PG and showed that in Calif HS play.
Ahanmisi was late replacement for Cobbs.

Andre Hollins will be the starting point guard and Joe Coleman cold very well be the starting SG. You could also see a lot of progress out of Chip or Austin, but they will be pushed by two of the highest rated guard recruits we have had in a long time. Hopefully, they can both shoot- I am hearing that they can. I think Chip will work on playing PG in the off-season as well, since that is his best chance to earn more PT.
Next Year
I would put it at 50/50 that this is our starting backcourt next year:
GradePlayer InfoStatus93Andre Hollins, SG POS Rank SG #23HT 6’2"WT 190lbs.HS White Station H.S. (TN)Signed92Joe Coleman, SG POS Rank SG #26HT 6’3"WT 185lbs.HS Hopkins H.S. (MN)Signed
Andre is listed at SG, but is playing PG this year and was recruited to play PG.
