Well
Sid is quoting Tubby here not speculating. Glad Tubby is saying it. Let’s get this season behind us and move on.

This Season
Reminds me (at little) of 2002 at Kentucky. That was Tubby’s most talented UK roster (with 7 HS A-A on it). Starting C Jason Parker (HS A-A) injured his knee (twice) and missed the entire year.
UK finished 22-10. A-A Tay Prince graduated. Then 4 players (including Parker) left during the offseason. Only Kelenna Azubuike and Antwain Barbour were significant recruits in 2002 class.
UK finished 32-4 and # 1 in AP poll the next year.
I doubt Minnesota gets 32 W or # 1 ranking but 10 W improvement is possible.

Improvement next year
I’m not sure I see the talent there. Tubby had recruited players that should have positioned the Gophers to excel the last two years (White, Williams, Mbakwe, Devoe, Carter). That went to sh*t.
I don’t think the additions of Oto, Elliot, Andre and Joe equal the potential of White, Mbakwe, Devoe and Carter. Haven’t seen Oto or Elliot, though, so I’m happy to be wrong.

I Think 10 More W = Possible
Not likely. But Tulsa improved 8 W from 1993 to 1994 with much the same roster.
UK improved 10 W from 2002 to 2003 with pretty much the same key players.

Or Tulsa (1993 Then 1994 And 1995)
Tulsa was 15-14 in 1993 then 23-8 (1994) and 24-8 (1995) in back-2-back Sweet 16 NCAA finishes.
Saul is going to be the Next head coach at MN....Tubby is staying for his pension and his sons future.
I have pretty good information on this, but again Im not Sid haha!
That's Pure BS
Take that crap somewhere else. SBN blogs are above that garbage.

Speculation ...
… is what fans do. I wouldn’t begrudge Tubby if he wants to groom Saul. What father wouldn’t want his son to follow in his footsteps.
That said, I do have concern with the assistants. If the various commenters on other boards are right, Saul has been in charge of offense and Jirsa in charge of developing the big men. The big men have not developed at all. Ralph is constantly put in a place offensively where he won’t excel (with his back to the basket). Ralph is a face-up jump shooter. That’s fine. I just wish they’d use him in that role more often. But I’m entirely concerned about the big men not developing with their backs to the basket.
Offensively in general, I don’t think the Gophers run base offenses that put the team in a position to succeed. They run the flex at times, which forces the bigs to handle the ball at the top of the key. While they can pass a little bit, they aren’t able to handle the ball. Rodney Williams played in the post in high school. While he needs to develop a game on the perimeter, I’ve been disappointed that the Gophers haven’t posted him up more often. He is best when he’s close to the basket. Let’s post him up on smaller guards / forwards from time to time.

Yabbut
Saul may coach Div I somewhere, someday.
But NOT Gophers, and not soon either.
His brother GG is closer to HC than he is.

Thank you...
…that’s all I was asking for.
I don’t even care if he means it…it’s the right thing for him to say for many reasons…recruiting being #1. Fan respect #2.
Joke of the day
RS2 talking about making RS3 available in the draft.
That was probably the plan.
But Ralph hasn’t developed much since he arrived. I think he’s marginally improved and I think he can play professionally, but not in the NBA, at least not right now.

that is standard
declare to see where you fit, then come back adn work on what you need to work on. Rodney and Mbakwe will likely declare as well.

I am hoping
RS3 can develop into a decent #4 for us next year. Hopefully, Colt and Mo can hold down the true center position and we get an assist-minded PG who can penetrate and dish to Ralph for his nice little 10-15 foot jumper. I think the key for him on both sides of the ball is to not match up with whoever is the opponent’s post player. That means Colt especially needs to have a good off-season. But any thoughts of him playing in the NBA is crazy.
I don't see any school ponying up over $2 to hire Tubby right now.
He stays and start rebuilding with this year’s freshmen and the incoming class. It’s not Tubby’s fault things went to heck this year. Remember it was a two year fiasco. White, Mbwake, and others had their problems beginning last year. This year people leaving just compounded it.
plus a really big buyout

I'll take the other side
Who cares if Tubby leaves? I don’t and I won’t give him a free pass on everything that went wrong. While injuries are not his fault, the defection of Joseph and his lack of recruiting (shooters) hs hurt the future of this team. Player development falls squarely on his shoulders and the shoulders of his staff and that has been dismal. If Trevor goes pro (not likely I think) then we are going to be a doormat next year with another bottom 3 B1G finish. Tubby is vastly underperforming his contract and a coaching change at this point wouldn’t really set us back. I’m ok with giving him more time, but if he wants to leave that is fine too. Wow, apathy has set in big time.
Shooters
Joseph was a shooter. Osenieks is a shooter. One played 8 games, the other 0.
No one knows why Joseph left in mid season so it’s impossible to know whose fault it is.
