Gopher Baseball is losing a few players to the Major Leagues.
Scott Matyas - has not yet signed but he is a senior and is ineligible to come back anyway. You may remember that he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers.
A.J. Petterson - was drafted and now signed by the Minnesota Twins. I'm thrilled that he landed with the Twins, though he'll be sorely missed in the Gopher lineup.
Nick O'Shea - was drafted by the Astros and has also signed a contract with the Cincinnati Reds.
Justin Gominsky - has signed a contract with the Houston Astros.
Austin Lubinsky and T.J. Oakes were also drafted in the later rounds. I have heard nothing about their status.
- Gopher Football picked up a another commitment. Dinero Moss is a DB out of Florida. He is a 5-11 corner who may end up a safety. Also had offers from Nebraska, UConn and some mid-majors. ESPN eval says, "Has big-play ability but is also a reliable last defender when deployed at safety. Shows good zone skill-set reading the quarterback and seeing routes develop. Anticipates the pass well and does a good job jumping routes and closing the cushion. Positions himself correctly in one-on-one coverage and shows good range when locked up on an island.". This is older but USC may be missing their top returning rusher, Marc Tyler, for the Gopher game in September.
