Troy Stoudermire Named to Hornung Award Watch List

+

Minnesota Gopher cornerback and kick returner Troy Stoudermire is one of three Big Ten standouts to be named to the 2011 Paul Hornung Award watch list. The award, which was first given last season, honors the most versatile player in college football. Stoudermire is a dynamic kick returner as he's already the Gophers' all-time leader in kick return yardage, and should lead the Big Ten in that category by the end of 2011. Stoudermire averaged 27.2 yards per return last season. He was sixth on the team with 28 solo tackles despite playing just half the season at corner, and also recorded two tackles for loss, an interception, and two fumble recoveries. The other two candidates selected from the Big Ten were Michigan QB Denard Robinson and Michigan State wide receiver/kick returner KeShawn Martin.
