Gophers Desperate for First Big Ten Win - OPEN THREAD
Minnesota Golden Gophers at Indiana Hoosiers, Jan 12, 2012 7:00 PM CST
We all know the numbers. 0-5, 14 of our last 15, it has to end. Unfortunately we are heading on the road to face a top 10 team. Indiana has quickly turned things around, they get Ohio State again in a few days so maybe they are looking past the lowly Gophers.

Wouldn't it be nice if our PF/C combo was averaging over 27 ppg. For that would would need our PF healthy and a C who wanted to score. This team has four starters averaging double figures and the fifth is a guy the Gophers heavily recruited and has been a double-digit scorer each of his last three seasons. Very talented roster that was made better by the addition of a five-star talent like Zeller, who I'm really anxious to watch play.
Minnesota put Coleman into the lineup last game and I assume they'll go with it again at Indiana as he had a pretty good game. Personally I'd love to see Mav and Ralph off the bench in favor of Andre and Elliott, why not give those guys a chance at this point?

Our numbers get worse and worse every game thread I have to type. This season is getting depressing. We need a spark, we need a big win to gain some confidence. We need to avoid 0-5.

not sure why
but i have a good feeling about tonight. It could be naive hope that at least 1 team i cheer for wins this year, but none-the-less I have a good feeling.
I had that feeling about Purdue
I can’t have it two games in a row

sorry TCB
I don’t share it. IU is tough. They are actually playing for a B10 title. They are home with a real home court advantage. Our young guys will be psyched out by noise. Three pointers will be dropping from all over the place. Our bigs will get destroyed. Mav will get eaten alive. I just don’t see it. I haven’t been this down on the program in a long time. I still maintain there is talent (PG needed), I am just seriously questioning the coaching staff.
Down ...
Me too. I see a bunch of role players and Mav getting far too much time.

If The Gopher game is a blowout...
I was planning on watching the hockey game. But on my stupid Dish TV They are showing the Wild game on Fox Sports North
Just tuned in … Is this a new starting lineup or has Tubby already mass substituted?

Gophers hanging tough
Which is impressive, ’cause these refs suck.

Ugh
I like how Watford shoving rodney is a foul on rodney.

Rodney's last foul frustrates me
just stand big in the paint, you don’t have to block everything

I've come with some negativity
but we are winning! Love it
I missed the first 35 minutes so I don’t know what got us to this point but this would be a huge win.

23 Indiana FT attempts to our 8? HOLY CRAP!
We should be down 15.

I'm Glad Gophers Believed In Themselves
Much more so than the author of the article at the beginning (above).
Nice W for Minnesota. They deserved it!

have you seen this team play lately?
I think there was good reason to be down on them. If you thought my writings above were negative you should listen to the podcast on Crimson cast. I was downright suicidal on there.

Yes > Have You?
They played pretty well against Illinois and Michigan. Iowa played well against them.
The Purdue game was a clunker. Gophers could just as easily be 4-1 as 1-4 now.
I think you and some Gopher fans have given up too early.

Read Post #1
I had a good feeling about tonight.
That was a helluva game.
Gotta like Coleman, Austin Hollins, Rodney, Mav tonight. Even Ralph played well.
BTW, How the hell was Tubby able to come up with that fantastic game strategy while the local sports media were chasing him out of town? Oh well, i don’t care, just do it again! 6 wins vs top 10 teams in his 5 years at the U! What other coach in gopher bball history can claim that?
NO LET DOWN VS PSU!!!
GO GOPHERS!!!

I am an idiot based on my earlier
post, but a happy one.
Don't be so hard on yourself!
For every game like this we’ve had a dozen that fell apart at the end. Nobody on earth could have given us a good chance in this game. I won’t beat myself up over the outcome. I’ll enjoy it, like you.
Watching on tape delay
Anyone else notice how Crean was playing defense toward the end of he first half? He’s been on the floor for our entire offensive possessions, often positioning himself behind the ball or moving toward it when we’re near their bench. How does he get away with that?
