Mary Langenfeld-US PRESSWIRE

While participating in a rebounding drill Ellenson got his hand caught in a teammate's jersey, bending it backwards and subsequently breaking it. This is a disappointing setback for the true freshman but if you are going to be sidelined for a couple months this is probably the best timing.

Smith stated that Ellenson was probably not going to redshirt, but now it would seem to make sense.

"He was playing well, and he probably wasn't going to be (redshirting), but it's going to be something that we're going to probably consider at this juncture," Smith said.

Ellenson is a high flying and good shooting forward who could have, and still might be able to contribute this season. I am really looking forward to his career as a Golden Gopher, this will end up being a minor setback over the course of his career. Keep your chin up Wally, you'll still have plenty of time to make your mark on Gopher Basketball.
