Gophers Receive Verbal from Wisconsin Defensive End

The third member of Kill's class of 2013 is Owen Salzwedel, a defensive end from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. My quick thoughts are... "Take THAT Wisconsin!" OK, so they didn't actually offer Salzwedel so it should really be "Take THAT, Central Michigan." But we landed a kid from the Badger State who hopefully will rack up sacks to show Bielema that he should have offered. Do we have to sign another kid with a surname that is challenging to spell? I'm going to have to type this name for the next 5 years. We should only recruit Smiths, Johnsons, Taylors or at least no surnames with a no more than two consonants in a row and only the first letter capitalized. I think I'll be able to handle this one eventually but coach Kill should think of the media once in a while. Serious thoughts...Another athletic defensive end with a light offer sheet (see Alex Keith, Lincoln Plsek, Michael Amaefula, Theiran Cockran and Drew Goodger). Salzwedel was offered after camping at Minnesota last week and impressed the coaches enough to earn the offer. He has a ton of sacks racked up in high school already and we all hope that trend continues at the next level. FBT's thoughts on the new commitment.
