It wasn't the first round selection that we were all hoping for, but the size, talent, and potential of Ra'Shede Hageman was too strong for him to remain undrafted for long on day 2. With the 37th pick in the second round, the Atlanta Falcons selected Shede to beef up their defensive line.
Shede's ability to overpower his opponents put NFL on notice. While concerns have been raised about his technique and consistency, there was no question that his upside and measurables would make him hard to pass up for long.
The Falcoholic, SB Nation's Falcon's site, is pleased with the pick:
Hageman is, in my humble opinion, a deeply worthwhile pick at this point. A projected late first rounder, Hageman has terrific size and strength and the kind of pass rushing chops that are rare in a defensive tackle.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for Shede! He's worked really hard over the years to get where he is and I'm excited for him to get the chance to make an impact in the NFL for Atlanta.
