Adam Wilcox Named a Nominee for the 2015 Mike Richter Award!

Gopher goalie Adam Wilcox was named one of 28 nominees for the Mike Richer Award on Friday. The Mike Richter Award began in 2014 and is awarded by Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation to College Hockey's best goalie. Wilcox was one of three finalists for the award in 2014 that went to UMass-Lowell goalie Connor Hellebuyck.

The qualifications of the award are as follows:

- Candidates must display outstanding skills on the ice

- Candidates should be in good academic standing at an NCAA college or university

- Consideration should be given to academic achievement and sportsmanship

- Candidates must comply with all NCAA rules; be full-time students at an NCAA college or university; and complete 50 percent or more of the season

- Consideration should be given to the candidate’s activities in the community

Wilcox currently has a record of 17-9-3 with a 2.50 goals against average and a 90.7% save percentage.

The finalists and winner will be selected by a committee of coaches, scouts and members of the media. The 28 nominees will be cut to five finalists on March 18. The award will then be given out at the Frozen Four in Boston by former Wisconsin goalie and award namesake Mike Richter.
