2

The University of Minnesota Men's Tennis Team defeated 4th place and #27 nationally Northwestern 4-3 at the Baseline Tennis Center to wrap up a tie for the regular season Big Ten Championship with a 10-1 conference record. It is the first time in 20 years that the Gophers will have a piece of the Big Ten Crown. The Gophers finished the regular season with a 12-0 record at home.

The Gophers finish the regular season ranked #33 in the nation, and tied for the Big Ten Championship with a 9-1 record. Unfortunately due to tiebreakers, the Gophers will have the third seed in the Big Ten Tournament this weekend at Illinois. The Gophers upset the #3 nationally ranked Fighting Illini Friday night, yet they still claimed the #1 seed, while the only big ten team to defeat the Gophers, Ohio State took the #2 seed.

The Gophers will play either Sixth seeded Penn State or 11th seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament at 2:00 on Friday. Good luck to the Gophers as they go for their first Big Ten Tournament Championship!
