Rutgers Announced As 2016 Homecoming Opponent

7

Rutgers will be Minnesota Football's 2016 Homecoming opponent. The announcement isn't a huge surprise, given that the U preferred to avoid a repeat of 2015 (where non-B1G opponent Ohio University was the Homecoming foe) and Iowa is Minnesota's only other October home game.

Maryland's Diamond Stone Suspended for Thursday's Game

8

Maryland forward, Diamond Stone pushed the head of Wisconsin's Vitto Brown into the floor and has earned himself a 1-game suspension. Why do we care? Because the Gophers are Maryland's next opponent and Stone will be serving his suspension on Thursday.

NCAA Restores the "REAL" First/Second Rounds of NCAA Tournament

6

Thank you for doing something right. Who says that common sense doesn't prevail in the NCAA offices?

"The Thursday-Friday games will be known as first and second rounds, so there's no more, quote-unquote, third round," NCAA spokesman David Worlock said. "So Thursday and Friday is the round of 64, Saturday and Sunday is the round of 32, and then obviously the Sweet 16 and Final Four hasn't been changed."</p>

Thank you, it was just dumb and it didn't prevent me from enjoying the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament (clearly a national treasure of a holiday, though not a national holiday), but it was just dumb and I am a happy man knowing that this wrong has been righted for all of humanity.

Now if only we could figure out a way to not have to watch Bo Ryan in the NCAA Tournament for the rest of my life.

Rachel Banham Scores 60 Points, Ties NCAA DI Record

13

Gopher point guard Rachel Banham scored 60 points in a 112-106 Double OT win at Northwestern Sunday afternoon. The 60 points sets a new Big Ten record, and tied the NCAA Division I record.

Banham had 20 points at the half, and scored several clutch baskets at the end of regulation and at the end of the first OT period to extend the game. Banham came into Sunday's game averaging just over 24 points per game.

The win was critical to the Gophers' hopes for a first round bye in the Big Ten Tournament, moving their Big Ten Record to 8-4 on the season.

Dredrick Snelson Chooses UCF

44

Thank goodness this whole drawn out nonsense is finally over. A couple of things:

1) If you're freaking out about this, you're doing it wrong.

2) If you're texting tweeting Snelson about it, you're doing it wrong.

3) If you think this ruins the class, you're doing it wrong.

Dredrick Snelson to announce final school choice around 12pm CT

10

Well, we're down to the final two we knew we'd be waiting on, Coney Durr and Dredrick Snelson. Snelson sounds like he'll be picking a school at noon CT. As we noted earlier, Coney appears to be signing his LOI around 12:30 CT.

Coney Durr to annouce school choice around 12:30 CT?

3

Well, we might have a few hours to wait until Coney Durr decides between Virginia Tech and Minnesota. I still feel good about this commitment, but don't expect me to give you factual reasons for that. It's just a gut feeling and is thus worth very little.
