Gopher Hockey lost a lot with Seth Helgeson graduating and Erik Haula, Nick Bjugstad, Nate Schmidt, Zach Budish and Mark Alt turning pro. There's no way the 2013-14 team could be better without those guys. Or could they?
The three juniors, C Nick Bjugstad, W Zach Budish, and D Nate Schmidt have all signed with an NHL club in the last two days, and fellow junior Erik Haula is expected to sign with the Wild. That should be it for players leaving early, but we'll see.
And just like that, their season is over. No National Title, no Frozen Four, the Gophers just got knocked out in the first round.

Minnesota, the 2nd overall seed in the tourney, plays the 15 seed Yale Bulldogs in the first round with the potential of a Minnesota vs UND matchup in the regional finals. Gophers vs Bulldogs is Friday at 1pm CST on E!SPNU.
The Gophers were given the #2 overall seed in the tournament, and are one of six WCHA schools that made it. They and Wisconsin were the only two future Big Ten schools to get in. Minnesota plays Yale this Friday afternoon at 1pm CST on ESPNU.
