The "Step One Of Operation Broom" OPEN THREAD
Playoffs are here!
Playoffs are here!
I bring in a plethora of bloggers and writers to talk about the WCHA season, awards, playoffs and NCAA berths, and whatever else they wanted to talk about.
Four Golden Gophers were named to either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd all-WCHA teams, but the co-MacNaughton Cup champs were shut out of the major awards. I suppose they had to give JBSU something to stop their whining, right?
The U is in prime position for a run to Pittsburgh for the Frozen Four. Considering how many players from their loaded lineup could be lost to the pros after the season, the time is now for Don Lucia and the Gophers to win it all.
The Gophers pulled off just their second conference sweep of the season by thumping the Beavers 5-1. With the win, and yes, thanks to Wisconsin beating St Cloud, the Gophers tied the Huskies for the WCHA regular season championship.
Don't screw this up Badgers.
The Gophers had to come from behind in the third to win, as Nick Bjugstad led the way with two power play goals, including the game winner. St Cloud and North Dakota also won, and because they beat the two teams in fourth place, that clinched a top 3
Hockey hockey hockey hockey hockey hockey...
Jack Hittinger, BSU beat writer for the Bemidji Pioneer, stops by to talk puck before this weekend's series.
The Gopher's last ever WCHA regular season series is in Bemidji, where the Gophers hope for a sweep and some help to retain the MacNaughton Cup, or at the very least hang onto a top 3 spot in the conference.
