The team's MVP from a year ago is back tonight after a brief hiatus. I was very, very worried when news of his injury emerged before the season began. I thought he would be out longer. It's great to have him back.
The Gophers beat CSU last year at Williams Arena, this game is on the road, the Gophers are likely without Ralph Sampson III, and if the Rams have a strength it's height. Playing inside for the Gophers--if RSIII indeed sits out--will be Colton Iverson, Johnson and Paul Carter? Jonathan Williams will be out for awhile longer.
I'll be watching how the newcomers respond to a road environment. None of the newcomers have been overly impressive. Will one of them step up tonight?
For CSU, watch Andy Ogide on the inside. He's a transfer from Ole Miss, a 6'8 forward, who is averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds. I expect to see Johnson get the call to cover Ogide.
Senior guard Marcus Walker has led the Rams offensively with 24 points per game. Walker has been able to shoot from the outside and get to the free throw line.
The game starts at 9 p.m. central time. It is on The Mountain West Network. If you have DirecTV, this is on the SportsPack and is on channel 616.
