Gopher baseball head coach John Anderson gets his 1,000th win tonight with a win over Penn State.
The Gophers won and maintain their Big Ten lead in a Thursday night game over Penn State. Illinois lost and Ohio State won. So the Gophers are still up just a half game over the Buckeyes and Illinois needs lots of help as they are now 1.5 out with 2 games left. Ohio State, I remind you, is playing Iowa who I remind you is terrible. So the Gophers may need a sweep because Ohio State is very likely to win on Friday and Saturday.
The win is vitally important in finishing off what has been a remarkable season with a conference championship. But John Anderson winning his 1,000th game is impressive. Anderson joins select company with 1,000 wins as he is the 39th NCAA coach and 11th active to reach this milestone. He is also the 10th youngest coach to reach 1,000. Hats off to coach Anderson and we'd love to see many more wins in the years to come as well as this season.
Friday and Saturday are huge games and you can watch tonight's game on the Big Ten Network.
- Gopher Men's Golf is currently in 9th after the first round of NCAA Regionals.
- Eric Crawford of the Louisville Courier Journal lists the Gophers as good candidate to face Kentucky in their annual non-conference game in Louisville. I don't ever see it happening but that would be a great game to watch that would certainly receive national attention.
- A Gopher Football preview. There will be many, many more but I'll pass them along as I see them.
- This late addition to the Nugz was too good to pass up. Not that we have anything to brag about but today marks day 2,000 since the last time Michigan beat Ohio State (this one's for you JG!)!
