0-2 in the challenging Big Ten road games. Nobody should be surprised and I don't get the feeling anybody should be too bothered by the loss. The Gophers fell 53-60 in East Lansing after a nice little comeback that cut the lead to three with 3:06 left. There is no shame in losing to a top 10 team on the road but once again the Gophers struggled to make baskets on the road against a quality defense. On the bright side Damian Johnson had arguably his best game of the year. And the Gophers took care of rebounding for the firs time against Michigan State in a very long time. But they failed to generate turnovers and Michigan State got to the foul line 14 more times than we did. Ultimately we lost to a good team on their home floor. Not the end of the world but we are capable of playing better.
- Monday marks the beginning of an open period for football recruiting. You can bet that Seantrel Henderson will be getting visits and calls up to (and probably exceeding) the maximum allowed. Notre Dame's Brian Kelly will be here and I'd bet my SBN salary Lane Kiffin will be in town on Monday as well. This will get interesting.
- This is a few days old but Adam Jacobi of BHGP wrote a nice piece for SBN.com taking a glimpse at NCAA Football 2020. He didn't mention a Gopher Rose Bowl in the next decade but I'm sure he believes it is highly likely.
- I wondered how long it would take for Alabama folks to start wondering if the Tide is the best BCS Champion of all-time. Clearly Miami 2001 was amazingly good, but look at the poll to see how Alabama 2009 is getting over 50% of the vote.
- Big Ten all-bowl team. Our safeties had big games at the Insight, but that was about it.
