Gopher Sports...the week ahead

Here is what's happening in Gopher Nation this week.

Monday - Thursday

  • nothing happening in Gopher sports.

Friday

  • Men's Hockey heads to St. Cloud State for the first of a home and home series. The Huskies are currently 4th in the WCHA while the Gophers remained in 7th despite going 1-0-1 against North Dakota this past weekend.
  • Women's Hockey hosts North Dakota, game can be found on BigTenNework.com. The women tied both games against Bemidji State last weekend and won both shootouts. Currently sitting in first place in the WCHA with a seven point lead over second place Minnesota-Duluth.
  • Wrestling will grapple with Michigan State on the road. This will be the first official Big Ten match up for the Gophers who are 5-4 overall.
  • Men's Swimming and Diving will travel to Madison for a two-day, meet with Wisconsin and Purdue. The men won their dual meet over Missouri last week.
  • Women's Swimming and Diving will head east to the Rutgers/Swim World Carnival.

Saturday

  • Men's Basketball hosts Michigan State at 11:00. The Gophers have dropped three of their last four and are on the verge of really "needing" a huge win like this could be. The good news is that MSU has to play on Wednesday while we have all week to prepare for Saturday's game.
  • Men's Hockey will host SCSU this time for game two of another pivotal series for the Gophers who are fighting to get back into the WCHA upper-half.
  • Women's Hockey hosts North Dakota again.
  • Wrestling will stay in the state of Michigan and take on the 3-5 Wolverines on Saturday.
  • Men's Gymnastics will host Washington and Arizona State. The men finished 5th out of 6 last week in Chicago.
  • Women's Gymnastics hosts Michigan State, this meet can be seen on the Big Ten Network (tape delay). The women finished 3rd out of three last Saturday in Lincoln, NE.
  • Men's Swimming and Diving will be in Madison and for the second day will face Wisconsin and Purdue.
  • Women's Swimming and Diving will head east to the Rutgers/Swim World Carnival.

Sunday

  • Women's Basketball has their only game of the week as they host Michigan State (11-7, 2-5). Last week the Gopher women dominated Purdue at home and lost 60-61 at Northwestern. Currently sitting at 4-3, tied with Purdue for 4th in conference.
