And the Seantrel Henderson saga goes on (and on and on and on). If there is anyone who can extend his son's recruitment into July it is Sean Henderson. This from Shooter...

When heralded football signee Seantrel Henderson from Cretin-Derham Hall didn't show up as scheduled last week for orientation at the University of Southern California, new coach Lane Kiffin, recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron, offensive line coach James Cregg and top assistant Monte Kiffin took a private jet to the Twin Cities on Monday to make sure the 6-foot-8, 330-pound left tackle still was committed.

Sean had no comment.

There is no reason to believe Seantrel will reconsider his 'no' to the Gophers, regardless of what happens in Southern Cal. Rumors of a prep school or JUCO and of course Miami or Ohio State have all been circulating, but this is far from being over.

  • The same Shooter article is full of Tyus Jones info. He's the next big-time Minnesota prep athlete. He is expected to be invited to try out for the USA Junior National Team. The 14-year old has also given up football and baseball, for now to concentrate on basketball.
  • Royce White says the odds of him returning to the Gophers are "slim and none."
  • Several Gopher players and coaches recently participated in the Bruce Smith Golf Classic down in Faribault (Smith's home town). For the kids out there, Smith is the Gopher's only Heisman trophy winner.
