Golden Nugz 4.13.11- Happy UMD Day, and Da'Jon gets hurt

Happy UMD Bulldogs Day, everyone! Nothing like being upstaged by Little Brother. When Eric Kaler is looking for a new AD to replace Joel Maturi this summer, might I suggest UMD's Bob Nielson? I know he's also the football coach there too and considering he just won a natty title, I'm sure he's not quite ready to hang up the coaching spurs just yet, but still, it'd be worth a call. The guy clearly understands what it takes to turn a school's "Big 3" sports into winners, something our current AD clearly does not.

After turning MarQueis Gray from a receiver into a QB, the Gopher coaching staff has decided to turn another QB into a receiver. Da'Jon McKnight hurt his knee in practice yesterday, but (we're praying/hoping) it doesn't sound serious. Also in that same post is the idea of Eric Lair as a wide receiver?

While there's a lack of depth at WR right now, there's no shortage of depth and competition going on at running back. Limegrover told 1500E!SPN to not expect to see a clear-cut starter, and that plenty of guys are going to get carries this season. FBT also has some post-practice notes.

A quick spin around the B1G Legends West division, which Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald calls "a meatgrinder."

Gopher baseball hosts St Thomas today at 3:05 at Siebert Field.

Myron talks about the two JC transfers adding depth and experience for Gopher hoops.

No surprise that Gopher goalie Kent Patterson cleaned up at the team's awards banquet.
