Charlie Walters has some info rumors on Nick Bjugstad in his most recent column.

Word is the Florida Panthers have been hoping Gophers freshman forward Nick Bjugstad, last year's Mr. Hockey Minnesota, would sign rather than return to school.

The Panthers rate Bjugstad the third-best prospect in their system, according to The Hockey News, and are not thrilled about him remaining at Minnesota because they believe he's "being misused by playing wing instead of center. That's not his fault," Panthers assistant general manager Mike Santos said.

I'm no hockey expert but I would think that would not be a good thing for next year's Gopher squad.

  • Adam Weber has been working out and hoping for a shot to play hold a clipboard on Sundays. It is a nice piece on a good kid.
  • Corey Joseph is leaving Texas after one year. Might not be a terrible idea considering so many others are staying in college and this is a weak draft pool.
  • This is several days old but here is Bucky's 5th Quarter analysis of the Wisconsin spring game.
  • Interesting Title IX participation numbers.
  • NCAA Basketball attendance numbers are in. In spite of the Gopher's 1-10 finish we still finished 24th nationally in basketball home attendance.
  • Gopher wrestling picked up the top recruit in the country. Logan Storley from Webster, SD is that wrestler. He was 262-3 in his high school career and won 6 state titles.
  • Gopher hockey picked up a goalie recruit. Michael Shibrowski is from Edina and played for Des Moines in the US Hockey league last year.
